{Wooden Frame with Silk Roses under Bubble Convex Glass}

Very romantic and unique, large gilded wooden frame with dark pink roses that are handmade out of silk.
It measures 12.5 x 16.5 x 2".
They look so realistic atop the burgundy velvet.
The bubble convex glass makes it into a very rare and special wall hanging.
Please visit: Spectrenoir for more information on this vintage French Country Style piece.

Just yesterday, Bella from Bella's Rose Cottage in her post: Something Old showed another antique, convex glass frame with ornate gesso decorations. Bella's has the wood body over-layed with plaster glue compound, called gesso and then sculpted with scrollwork and leaves to create such ornate frame. Very striking and unusual, finished in a brassy gold tone.

Mine is just gilded wood...

Due to the bubble convex (domed) glass it is extremely hard to capture on camera without any glare.
The photo below shows the flash that I used, but less glare...

This one shows more the true color of the silk roses and the burgundy velvet on which they are mounted.
The photo below, taken from the side, gives a lighter color of the velvet but that is just because of the nap.

This pretty much shows the true colors.

  1. Hello Mariette,
    Like minds think alike :-)
I love those silk roses!!, much better than those nasty pastic silks from the 70's in mine:-)
I think your photos turned out realy nice, they show the depth of the glasses shape!

  2. Hi Mariette, these silk roses are beautiful. Actually I bought some last week, Fall is almost at my doorstep and I needed some Flowers to last all Autumn and Winter ;)
About the following, I could not get through, yesterday. Think it was a problem in tout my country (several ladies had this problem as I read).
    Today, I did get through!
Have a most wonderful new week. xxx

Gisteren waren we precíes 28 jaar geïmmigreerd!

    Sara

  10. Dearest Mariette, this roses really look VERY realistic!!!!
I also want to thank you for your sweet comment and your wishes for my mother! Yes, you are right, we are the 'sandwich generation' - my daughter is 17 and needs me as much as my mother... Thats life, sweetheart - it's good to have still a mother (and besides her broken shoulder she's still very fit for her age) and it's the best thing in the world to have a wonderful daughter ...
Hugs and very good wishes, Traude
