{Our Bee Happy Magnolia Restaurant}

  • Up until a week ago we still had a few of those huge double flowers on our fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno'. It has been a true feast for the bees, thus making it into a 'Bee Happy Magnolia Restaurant'.
  • You can read my earlier post about this tree here  {Our Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno'} Have a look at one of those huge and Bee Happy Blossoms...

  • A perfect picture taken by Pieter at 10:30 AM.
  • By the way, in the post mentioned above, about this special double flowering and Fragrant Magnolia tree, there was one comment asking about its age.
  • We did plant this huge tree in 1996. But as you can guess, with our tropical summer temperatures, all trees grow very fast here.

  • Don't worry; BEE HAPPY!

  • As a reply to some questions about the crapemyrtle post from yesterday, if bees do visit it.
  • Surely they do, we have plenty of bees in our garden and that almost year round.
  • That's why we do have our Backyard Wildlife HABITAT Certificate since August of 1997.
  • Look for that in my previous blog: {Our Backyard Wildlife HABITAT Certificate from August 1997}.

Hope this did answer any questions left.
Thanks again for your visit!

  1. Dearest Mariette,

  2. Mon Ami ... your wonderful gardens are true inspiration to give give back to nature. Our butterfly garden attracts not only butterflies but a whole variety of bees ... It is breath taking to watch them fly from flower to flower ... the other day I was amazed as I looked closer to actually see a bee with little bundles of pollen attached to its legs (thats what it looked like)... Mr. G and I try to plant flowers that will help our little nature friends... hard work but well worth each sore muscle and joint.

I'm catching up on my blog visits and reading... Your post on your gazebo was gorgeous ... that crapemyrtle is beautiful. Looks like its a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a cup of tea.

CONGRATULATIONS on your interview!!! I listened to with Mr. G and we loved listening to you speak and smiled at the seedless watermelon you provided your eager student. I especially liked your comment on "it starts at home, around the family table" so true.

Visiting your website I saw your Pen to Paper class ... I had started a BlogLand Pen Pal exchange and am hoping to get it back on track this autumn ... I so enjoy the art of letter writing and there really is nothing more special than to receive a letter or card.

My dear friend you are a true inspiration to me on so many levels. To live is to be one with nature and truly enjoy the simple things in life.. wishing you and Pieter a fabulous week... and may you get some rain for the beauties in your gardens. XO , Blessings HHL

  11. Finally Greetings Mariette!!

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry it has taken me sooooo long to get over to your little corner of Bloglandia!! Oh and I'm so glad I did! I have had a wonderful time exploring your special world & look forward to returning for more lusciousness!!! Magnoilias are not a native tree here :( It is one of the northland plants I truly miss!! I'm not sure why unless it's suceptible to some insect or disease we have here??

  13. That is a great shot of that pretty Magnolia bloom. I love them and the fragrance they put off. Thanks for your Georgia greeting. We are absolutely burning up in Texas. I am sure you have seen us on the news. You see hardly any flowers anywhere.

  14. Hi Mariette, what a lovely yard you have it seems so romantic with that wonderful gazebo as a focal point! I do especially love your white crapemyrtle tree, We used to have 5 of those trees in my childhood backyard all varying in shades of white to pink and lavender, good memories! Thanks for stopping by to say hi, Christie

  15. It is so impressive how much you know about plants and flowers. I know very little, but I enjoy learning.

We have a Magnolia in our front yard. It's about 6 years old. We haven't been seeing too many flowers these days. I wonder if it has to do with an unusually cool summer. xo, A
