{I LOVE Mosses & Daffodils}

  • Maybe strange but I LOVE, really LOVE MOSSES! And Daffodils of course...!
  • Am I crazy? Or are there others that are with me?...
  • I know my youngest brother Jan is crazy about mosses as well; so it must be genetic!

  • This is a photo from such mosses that I'd pampered for years, weeding them so they could grow FAT, be happy and STAY...
  • BUT, they need lots of moisture and with two very hot summers with lots of drought; all my mosses have VANISHED! Yes, they're gone.
  • How I treasure this photo from 1994. That combination of daffodils and mosses looks perfect to me; or not?

  • This photo is also from 1994, just last week I did scan those old slides.
  • Plenty of daffodils than. Now only the green showed but no buds, no blooms for 2013.
  • Here our semi-evergreen oak is still skinny and in its early years.
  • If you click on the link below this post you can see the giant that it is now.
  • Sure, there's always access to water and this pond never ever gets dry, as we had it dug in a wet area, kind of like a marsh.
  • A well from underground keeps it filled year-round!

Do you have a fondness of mosses as well?

  2. Hello Mariette, I also love anything in the moss-liverwort-lichen-fern line. There never seemed to be any scarcity of them back in Ohio, but I will check it out my next trip back. In recent years there seems to be a particular problem with some types of plants or animals suddenly all but disappearing for whatever reasons--climate change, pollution, or invasive species.

  3. Dearest Mariette,
this is wonderful, the moss and the daffodils!
Well, we have a little moss in the flower beds, sometimes I let it grow there, but our garden is tiny so we do not have such big trees with moss underneath...
    Have a lovely weekend,
    Love and hugs to you,
    Claudia

A presto. Paola

  11. I like mosses too because of their bright green color. That shade of green is pretty to look at (at least for me). Love your pictures.

  13. I've seen some people making their own little indoor terrariums with mosses and little plants from the forest. They are so very pretty. No moss growing around here, that's for sure. Daffodils are always a cheerful addition to any are. Best wishes for the weekend. Tammy

  14. Such lovely daffodils, Mariette! I love mosses, too. We had a few areas at our old house where it just grew and I was always afraid to disturb it {in case I "ruined" it}. It also used to grow between some of our bricks on our patio, which is a look I love. My husband disagreed, but he wasn't about to clean them all out so it stayed.

  15. Dearest Mariette,
You are so cute. I loved the story about weeding the mosses. Love it!
I only had green foliage on my daffodils this year, also. Is that because we didn't get enough cold weather?
I am so glad you are wading, pun intended, through you slides. We are getting some awesome shots.
    Love to you, Ginger
