{Our Weeping Pussy Willow Nearly Drowned}

On February 17 of this year, we proudly came home with a beautiful and healthy Salix Caprea Pendula - Weeping Pussy Willow. Below this post you will find a link about it from a provious post. Husband Pieter did plant it close to the creek as they love to grow near a stream.
Here it is, straight from Trader Joe's where we bought it and looking very healthy.
On August 6, I took this photo, near the creek where it already endured quite some abuse by the roaring waters that went way over its top.
Look for the red < chevrons for locating our Weeping Pussy Willow between some weeds.
You barely can see it... struggling for dear life and several of its branches had lost the leaves from the current of he waters...
Pieter did rescue it on August 18 and it went back into a pot and inside the greenhouse, sheltered from the heavy tropical thunderstorms.
Such a sad Weeping Pussy Willow...
The above photo I took at 2:45 PM
Only 5 hours later at 7:45 PM I made this photo from our flooded greenhouse after another tropical thunderstorm had passed over.
It made us feel happy for having rescued it and yet, still it was in the water.
Below I will put again the special poem that came with it in February:

The Story of Salix Caprea Pendula
The weeping pussy willow is among the most graceful of trees.
It is connected with all that is feminine-dreaming, intuition, emotion, enchantment, healing and revitalization.
The willow has long since been recognized as a sacred tree by poets, philosophers and religious leaders because of the flexibility of its twigs.
The willow's flexibility symbolizes resilience and inspires us to move with life rather than resist what we are feeling.
Magic has it that willow is bestowed with magical power capable of fulfilling wishes.
For a wish to be granted, ask permission of the willow explaining your desire.
Select a pliable shoot and tie a loose knot in it expressing your wish.
When your wish is fulfilled, return and untie the knot.
Remember to thank the willow for your gift.

This was mainly the groundwater coming all the way up as the soil got over saturated. That's what they call flash flood watch. They warn for it, it comes up in the homes and everywhere. Let's hope that is over now!
We lost lots of plants due to this... Sad but what can you do?

    I understand why it´s Crying...
The small plant already looks to feel better when it got to come in and dry up a little.
Willow grows almost everywhere in Sweden. From small shrubs to large trees. There are certainly hundreds of species. It is surrounded by magic and myths.
Hope your garden may soon become beautiful again. Sadly with all this rain making.
    Have a nice weekend
    Hugs to you

Oh we both are confident that it will regain its health back! So glad we dug it up in time.
Oh, in The Netherlands we have lots of them too. The poem in the end is about its magical powers.
No doubt in a year time we will recover from the losses. Nature restores itself.
      Hugs and sunny greetings,
      Mariette

Mère Nature peut faire des ravages parfois. Mais comme vous le dites, personne n'a été blessé. La perte de plantes, arbustes et autres peut être remplacée au fil du temps. Bonne fin de semaine à vous.

I DO believe she will make it☆☆☆ I LOVE the every word of the poem♡♡♡ I never thought that willow is a tree which holds such a magical power and means a lot. Especially moved by the phrase "The willow's flexibility symbolizes resilience and inspires us to move with life rather than resist what we are feeling." Thank you very much for sharing the poem, my dear friend!!!
Take care of yourselves and hoping you will have a bit of relaxing weekend with your husband.

It is such a pretty plant. I love pussy willows. Though, weeping pussy willow is not the one I had around. Ones I'm familiar with are regular trees. I love both regular and weeping forms :-)

Oh, it was I guess JIT = Just In Time as the muddy soil got so stinky and with a very sour pH.
It would be great if we once again could cut a vase full for bringing indoors in the early spring; just as we did when we were growing up in The Netherlands...
