{Oversize Load Transport}

When we had just moved from The Netherlands to Georgia, USA we were amazed at what would at times pass us on the road. Like Oversize Load Transport with half a home or an entire home! Have you ever seen that in your country? Bet you would pop your eyes wide open too...

It was quite an experience for us to see this. Probably this was on our road to work where we took this photo. This was exceptionally WIDE!
Have you encountered any of those?

    1. Dearest Theresa,
The first time we encountered one like this, our eyes got really big as we've never ever seen anything like this in The Netherlands!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  2. I've never seen anything like a house, not here or in the USA, lol! That was fun Mariette.
I hope you are not missing your family and that you are back to your normal rutine. I know it's hard when we have to part from dear famly. My daughter Sofia and her family are coming tomorrow for a long weekend for the Carnival hliday and the girls will stay for 2 weeks after they leave with us, as they're on summer vacation because their school has a different Schedule as we do here which is like in the USA. Have a great weekend, sweet lady.
    This was a fun post!

Such a house on the road was quite a surprise to us as well!
It is always hard to amputate yourself again from family; especially from Mom & Dad! But we will adjust to life on this side of the ocean again. Catching up on so many things, takes quite a while for getting into the routine again.
You are lucky when your family is coming again, fun times to look forward to an enjoy together.
      Enjoy your special weekend together.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  3. It is a very common sight in Australia. Often houses are transported.

  4. Hello Mariette, You are right about the surreal aspect of seeing houses being moved. It seems that this is/was no rare thing in America. In researching old houses, I am surprised how many are not at their original locations. In Cleveland, the large Victorian Fuller house was moved over the water--here are some pictures:
    http://blog.cleveland.com/westshoresun/2010/02/grant_money_supports_bayarts_f.html?p=fuller+house++moved+cleveland

Also, this photo is worth checking out, for the water-skier going by the house!

    1. Dearest Jim,
That is a very surreal fact and also here in our town a very historic home has been moved away in order that the Post Office could expand its delivery vehicle parking. The Victorian Fuller house was a very large one and also heavy with its 120 ton for being moved across the lake.
In the Old World there would never be space for getting such freight through and neither in Asia.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

OMG!!! My eyes got really wide open p;) Living in Japan, I can easily guess not many people have travel trailer itself. Haha,we call them "camping car", which is one of the Japanese English:-)

    I D hope you will get plenty of rest,m y friend☆☆☆

This is by no means a Caravan or Camper but just moving a house that will be set up permanently some place else! A Caravan or Camper is a lot smaller and does not exceed the width for being on the raod.
Rest I do still need but in about a week I will get adjusted again. Things were too hectic upon arrival here as I had another project lined up right away.
Thank you for your very loyal and warm friendship across the oceans!
Sincere hugs to you as well!

    2. Hi again; "Oversize Load Transport with half a home or an entire home" haha, I don't think I read this phrase properly. I just was reading thinking it what I thought it was from the start.
My husband said that he has seen transporting the house like this on TV in foreign country. He said I can think it kind of same as transporting "shinkansen" with car I've seen before.
Thank you very much for the explanation, silly me again:-)

Take Care and sending LOVE from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

  8. Lieve Mariette,

Like the one in the above picture, that is also a prefabricated home. Great for quick relief in an earthquake region but maybe such homes are also more prone to damage...
