{Crocheted Table Topper}

Crocheted Table Topper for layering with linen table cloth...
Yes, that is one more item I did hand crochet. My Mom had used to have a stash of Dutch, Durable cotton and I did purchase quite some skeins from her.
You see it right; there is a PEACH in that fruit bowl with some Bosc pears... even in mid-winter!
A nice table setting for three.
Crocheted from an Aarlan magazine, with obviously nicer thread that had a pretty sheen...
Funny that I could almost copy-cat everything in the above photo...
My white octagonal Seltmann Weiden Mirabell china from Germany.
French Baccarat Piccadilly, narrow and somewhat wider champagne flutes.
Dutch Gero Zilmeta Menuet 528 flatware.
Creamware Fluted Salad bowl made in Leeds, England by Hartley Greens & Co., famous since 1770.
Available at: Williamsburg Marketplace
The Evil Eye from Turkey is adding some blue...
Just a simple star pattern...

Added the  crochet pattern for those that would like to copy it...

Funny, I still love those octagonal white plates from my wedding china, they are German and I never tire of them.

  3. Beautiful. My mom is quite the expert. She has done beautiful patterns and really nice centerpiece. I was able to get one for our table...but I don't use it much because of the little children. I can do simple patterns, but haven't done it in a while. The table setting is very elegant and inviting.

Thank you and for sure your Mom can create lovely pieces by hand. When you have little ones you just have to hold on till they are grown up a bit more as it takes quite some time and effort for cleaning such table linens.

A very simple crochet pattern in a star motive and yet it can create something very special. This time it just worked out well with having almost everything at hand.

  6. Hello Mariette, You call it a simple pattern, but I am enormously impressed with your handwork here, so evenly and beautifully crafted. I would be afraid to expose such a labor of love to the risk of use serving food--adults are just as capable of spilling things as are children!

    1. Dearest Jim,
Thank you but often it is the simplicity that let's things stand out; less is more. I've been blessed for having learned a perfect even hand from my dear Mom who was quite an artist in this.
Oh yes, spilling is often a major problem and believe me that in our laundry room I'm well equipped for tackling that too; all part of life...
      Kindest regards,

It's reminds me of my sister who could look at a photo and copy and clothing. Her best was the copy of the very expensive picture of a gown she made for her daughter's wedding dress.

Thank you very much; just simple with also simple octagonal white dinnerware but I always liked it. Mom had such an enormous stash of cotton in the 80s that I did purchase lots of her to help her out. Have sold numerous doilies and such at Craft Sales that I made from Mom's cotton stash. She had different colors.
Oh when I spotted that peach here in Georgia at the supermarket I could not believe it. Wonder where it came from...?
