In Japan they use the shorter version, equally well to use. We too have lacquered and beautiful decorated chopsticks that Pieter did bring back from China when he went there with the People to People Citizen Ambassador Program. Also Campbell Soup used to have fancy chopsticks with their Le Menu, special Oriental Food.
