{Our Japanese Somei Yoshino Cherry in Bloom + Hummingbird Hawk Moth}


It is now one week ago that I took these photos of our Japanese Somei Yoshino cherry in full bloom. The blossoms don't last that long and as the wind blows, they soon end up under the tree as a pinkish white carpet on the ground. These Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are slightly pink, almost white and 5-petaled. You can read more info Cherry Tree Varieties as it is also by far the most numerous cherry tree in Japan.
Bumble bees feasting on the pollen of this gorgeous tree near our pond. Scroll down below to see also a Hummingbird Hawk moth (Macroglossum stellatarum).

    Mariette,stupendo,meraviglioso.Mi metterei su quella panchina ad ammirare il bellissimo ciliegio,starei lì a guardare il bellissimo tappeto di petali caduti e ne sentirei il profumo e magari anche uccellini cantare.Ciao,Rosetta

    natuurlijk...een "pond"......en begrijp ik nou good dat je een tour door jullie kunt maken???? Pfffff....moet jij vaak blaadjes harken dan ;)!
    Ik ben manlief aan het opwarmen voor een nieuwe SLANKERE boom in onze voortuin....maar ik geloof niet dat ik dit ga winnen....de kluit van die oude boom is er nog steeds niet uit.......voel een "traumaatje"opkomen ;)!

    Wat een prachtige sprookjesachtige tuin heb je! Prachtig met die vijver zo erbij!Je wandelt er zeker wel vaak? En het weer is ook heerlijk zie ik.
    Heb je adres nog niet voor de roos die ik je wil sturen van de zomer als je in Nederland bent!Welke kleur wil je?

    Wauw... wat heb jij een grote tuin, een park is het gewoon,
    en ook al zo'n mooie prunus, en ja het is eigenlijk te warm hier voor de tijd van het jaar, normaal is er zulk weer niet in maart, maar ik vind het best zo :)

    Oh!!!!You have a lovely Sakura,Somei yoshino. They are beautifully blooming! Sakura trees grow bigger and bigger,so mostly Sakura are planted in gardens,streets and mountains. How envious!! You have a large garden to have a big tree. I hope your Sakura will open soon with spring weather.
