{Nature's Candy - Sweet Cherries}

On Wednesday we went to Atlanta to make our usual rounds at Costco; Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. At Costco we sure did stock up on fresh fruits of the season. Cherries of course and also yummy raspberries, apricots, nectarines and peaches. Especially those sweet cherries I love! Childhood nostalgia too. We had three cherry trees; early tart 'Meikersen' Early Richmond Cherry, 'Spekkersen' yellow Ranier cherries with a red blush and dark Hedelfinger cherries. Even after eating our lunch, there was always room for lots of fresh cherries! Just want to show you some of the sweet cherries we got at Costco.
Square baking dish is from Pillivuyt France. The silver pastry tongs with embossed rose are from Germany. A dear friend of mine, Johanna Gehrlein, did write a splendid book about the different patterns, called Rosen-Bestecke
The tablecloth with the cherries is from Le Jacquard Français.
In our gazebo...
Here you see the Pillivuyt strawberry drainer with under plate, filled with juicy sweet cherries.
Pieter is capturing me on camera...
C'est si bon...

  7. Oh Mariette, I love cherries. We left behind the most beautiful cherry tree when we left Denmark last year. It was huge and it produced the most amazing cherries - and tons of them. I used to make a delicious layer cake with the fresh cherries which always went down a treat. Mmm... I'd love to sit in your beautiful gazebo and share some!
    P.S. That silver pastry thong is very delicate.
    Much love,
    Joan

  21. Dear Mariette, don't remember I see Cherry in Hong Kong when I was little or they're cost to much for my mum. I love cherries specially the dark red juice one... like in your pics. Around early 90's we planted a Stella Cherry tree down the back garden. We have some sweet cherry but not alot. I think its to close to next door's shrubs and tree ...it die! Hubby planted another one two years ago. Can't wait to see some cherries again! :-) Have a lovely weekend my dear friend. Mei
