Kind hearts are gardens,
Kind thoughts are roots,
Kind words are blossoms,
Kind deeds are fruits.
American poet 1807-1882
I am hoping to be able to make some Gardenia photos before they wilt.
We have had such rain that I was not able to do so...

I could never have gardenias in my veranda. It's so difficult to take care of this wonderful perfumed flower.Yours look absolutely great Mariette!Wish I could have one of them in my vase!
ReplyDeleteDearest Olympia,
DeleteGuess in Greece they ought to do very well. They of course do best when planted in the ground and your climate must be suitable for them I think. A very nice flower in Memory of your Dear Father...
Hugs,
Mariette

Liebe Mariette,

Lieber Gruss,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI fond wonderful day just happened the fragrance of gardenia"s of your kind hearts are gardens! and I really enjoyed your beautiful photos.
We has dark weather and too many rainy for more then two weeks.
Have a nice day!
Hugs and thinking of you!
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteSad to hear that you still cannot enjoy playing golf... We did have rain for about 8 days. Now it is extremely hot all of a sudden. Not good for plants, these gardenias do brown easily as they get scorched.
Wishing you nevertheless a nice day as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful garden quote.
The rain has taken its toll on gardens everywhere. Most of my poppies succumbed to the downpours. It is so sad to see beautiful blooms turned to rags and mush.
More rain today.....may you have sunny days.........*s*
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteBeautiful blooms are often so short lived! My Gardenias were starting out when I did the dinner for 10; they were perfectly white without spots. But of course I had no time to photograph them. Now, after about 8 days of rain the suddenly are in scorching heat and the browning damage is visible. Poppies are such tender and fragile beauties. It is sad and knowing it takes an entire year for seeing them back again...
Hugs,
Mariette
I love Gardenia and their fragrance is so lovley. I know it's another hopeless to try it again but I just can't stop buying if I know its another disappointment. I had try quite a few times but never have any luck to keep the flower bud stay till they're open... I got to give it one more try... may be one day... when I have a conservatory. Mei
ReplyDeleteDearest Katy-Mei,
DeleteOh, Gardenias thrive best in full soil but in a large enough pot with plenty of light they should be happy as well. Ah, a conservatory would be heaven... Especially those lovely British designs I always dreamed about. IF only we would be rich!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Nice words and beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Dearest Elna,
DeleteYes, this poem really speaks from the heart and flowers are intertwined into our lives so much.
Hugs,
Mariette
ola Mariette.
Mariette
Wat mooi zijn ze toch! Ze geuren zeker ook heerlijk?!
ReplyDeleteGroeten Janny
Lieve Janny,
DeleteNou en òf die geuren!
Liefs,
Mariette
Your flowers are beautiful! The one on the left looks like about to bloom!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the poem very much. I hope sun shines in your area so that you can take many photos of your gardenias :-)
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteOh aren't they gorgeous! The one to the left is like that; a kind of pinwheel form. We have different varieties in our garden. Some are huge too, like the Gardenia jasminoides 'Aimee Yoshida'.
I took yesterday some photos from my arrangements but all had brown spots; damage from the heavy rain. For my June 3rd dinner I had arranged perfect ones but with no time on hand for taking photos. Next year better! These photos I will show...
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Mariette, These are so beautiful. Ours are blooming but it is so hot they are wilting rapidly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, I am trying to get a post up when I can. Bob is not feeling well.
Love to you, Ginger
Dearest Ginger,
DeleteThank you! These are from a previous year of course as ours also have suffered from the rain and than from the extreme heat.
Hope that Bob is feeling better soon; it always worries us when at our age something happens. May God continue to bless both of you.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful poem; and seems like wrote especially for you♡♡♡ Wonderful and beautiful white Gardenia and I also have noticed the blooming difference of the two. We have a popular song called "Gardenia flower, くちなしの花(kuchinashi-no-hana)" sung by famous actor. My father used to like it p;)
I wish you can share some rain here where having a kind of dry rainy season. Unusual high temperature(^^;)
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Orchid,
DeleteSo glad that these gardenias did bring back fond memories of your Father, who liked it! Our rain seems to be over as today we had a lovely day and it was a pleasure for driving all the way to Atlanta; except too much traffic. In the morning it was okay but coming home it was awful. Glad we're back safe and sound!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, What words! the similarity between the beautiful flowers and life itself!
ReplyDeleteMay your beautiful flowers are always a visual treat to admire!
Even with inclement weather, thanks for sharing! Hugs, Rose M
Dearest RoseMarie,
DeleteFlowers are like people in many ways. We have good days and bad days and flowers, since their life-span is really short, have good years and bad years. Ours got browned by the rain this year but the fragrance is still heavenly and they are pretty; even when not perfect!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Rain or sunshine, do have a wonderful weekend, dear Mariette! :) Thank you for sharing these beautiful, inspiring words!!! Full summer has finally arrived here, with hot temperatures and occasional summer thunderstorms, and we're expecting our first heatwave next week. I wish the pleasant temperatures had lasted longer after the cold spell in May, but we take it as it comes, don't we? :)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you!
Dearest Anna,
DeleteThe very same for here, after the rain we had extremely hot weather and today was lovely. But we enjoy each day as it comes! Our gardenias are a joy every year.
Enjoy your weekend in summer weather too and sending you hugs from Georgia,
Mariette
Oh gardenias - some of my favorite flowers! What a lovely poem, too....embarrassed to say that I had never read that one before! <3
ReplyDeleteDearest Stacy,
DeleteIndeed, gardenias belong to my list of favorites especially for their heavenly fragrance. Ah well, how can we possibly read all the poems that have existed over the centuries? We try to do our best but this one I loved when I read it for the first time and thought let me place it over some lovely blossoms...
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Thank you Mariette! You are lovely!
ReplyDeleteMarina
Dearest Marina,
