{Our Guest Bathroom}

One more project to show you about; and after all, you had not seen Our Guest Bathroom before... Here she comes:
This is the same vanity from Italy as we have in our Master Bathroom. You can find the link below.
We did bring this home with us from Italy in a container, after not building our home there but returning to the U.S.A.
In the mirror you can see the bi-fold closet doors. As said before, this house has numerous build in closets and we love it!
That is the door to the hallway. Behind the high gloss white vanity cabinet from Italy, you see a Swedish IKEA GODMORGON high gloss white cabinet, as it did match perfectly. I keep my Lampe Berger Collection inside for my Zen Cart powered on line Boutique: Mariette's Back to Basics.
On the other wall is also an IKEA GODMORGON high gloss white.
We do have three of these brass with porcelain door knobs.
Two in the master bathroom on each side of the door. Great for hanging your robe and such.
These came from Restoration Hardware in the 1990s and they no longer carry them.
From Home Depot came these Snow White tiles, which Pieter used to create a tile baseboard instead of the wooden one. After we had our master bathroom done; Pieter worked on the guest bathroom and did it himself.
Nice shiny and easy to clean.
At Complete Tile Collection NYC New York they do have a 5-½" high Normandy Baseboard by Vermeere Ceramic Tile Molding. That might have worked too. Their Skirting Baseboard is almost 1" too short for replacing our wooden baseboards. We were restricted to size.
The wall paper is washable too and we don't need to replace that any time soon.
Standing near the hallway door now and looking towards the window.
This bathroom is rather long.
The cotton mats are from Italy.
The vanity has halogen lights; never hot and provide a perfect view with the large beveled mirror.
Now you can see the bi–fold closet doors and the sliding tub doors behind. That's the exact same bathtub that we replaced in our master bathroom with a shower. This works fine; still one tub left in the home!
In front of the tub doors you see a pull chain; that is for the heat lamp above.
To the left you see the double IKEA GODMORGON high gloss white cabinet.
Danish Damixa faucet in white. We used to have the very same in our master bathroom but had to replace it with a chrome Damixa.
Dolomiti is written in the vanity sink... made in Northern Italy.
Here you can see the air-conditioning ceiling register to the left and the exhaust fan with two heating lamps in front of the tub. We have those in all bathrooms and that is such a luxury. You just pull them on and pamper yourself when toweling dry. Not in the summer of course!
We picked up this idea when visiting friends in Australia and had them installed in our home.
Our German 'son' even has them installed in their master bathroom.
If you lived with them, you never want to do without!
To the right you see the other IKEA GODMORGON high gloss white cabinet.
My French Linen Angels you can find below post in link.
Another Danish Damixa faucet in white. The shower head we no longer have in white...
This is the exact same as we used to have in the master bathroom.
Hard to catch on camera and with the flash you get all kind of shine...
A convenient chrome caddy from Tuesday Morning...
Almost impossible to capture my hand made filet lace embroidered angels by daylight...
The same hand crocheted edging around the filet lace embroidered work as in the master bathroom... See link below post.
There you go; photo taken at dark... Angels & Roses!
The same solid oak, painted white indoor shutters as in all rooms except kitchen and veranda.
Tiny brass nails that got painted white and will never tarnish the hand embroidered lace.
You can read more about it from my previous post below...
This toilet with Eco friendly dual flush, we did bring home from Costco in Miami...
The two toilet tissue holders we picked up as an idea at the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta; see previous post about it below.
The toilet tissue stand is from Tuesday Morning.
Ending with this sculptured watercolor by Patsy Gullett... see post about it below.
So what do you think; is this guest bathroom looking okay to you?

    1. Liebe Irmi,

  9. Dearest Mariette,

I'm in love with the sink; it looks like it would be great for someone in a wheelchair, but so much more stylish than any I have seen.

As usual you have made what could be a utilitarian space into a bit of luxurious elegance. I think I would be tempted to spend a lot of time there.

    Enjoy your Sunday.......*s*

You can leave it to the Italians for elegant and very practical designs. It is so ergonomic as you stand with your feet right under it and with your face closer to the mirror. This bathroom is very beautiful for spending a soak in a bubble bath!
Hugs to you and happy Sunday.

    1. Lieve Mea,
      Lieve groetjes terug,
      Mariette

Thanks for your compliments! The only thing hand crocheted on those filet lace curtains is the edging. The rest is embroidered with a needle, a very tedious job for younger eyes...

Love the brass with porcelain door knobs for hanging robes etc. and your hand made filet lace embroidered angels are such a warm and lovely addition to your window - Very creative idea. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead with sunshine. As I type the rain is coming down in buckets and the tinkling on the writing studio's tin roof is comforting. Hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)

Thanks for liking this guest bathroom! Angels you can find throughout our home. They always have, together with Roses, been such a part of my life. Guess the Roses show the beauty of life; complete with thorns. The Angels show the beauty of Heaven...
Hope your rains will not last too long. Here it is also looking very dark and the sky looks pregnant with rain...

This is a combination of Italian and Danish things. Those tiles came from Italy too; in our container with the vanities. White faucets were popular in 1990; these are Danish. We fell in love with this washable wall paper and had both our bathrooms done with it. Still love it. Enjoy your week too; we had another big shower.

Thanks for your compliments. So funny your comment about using the toilet... Most homes here in the USA do have several bathrooms so each person can use either toilet or bath in his or her privacy.
In Europe we have one toilet only, downstairs most times and the other toilet might be upstairs in the bathroom.
Lots of love and hugs back from Georgia!

  25. I took one look at that vanity (before I had read your words) and thought - that looks European, and voila...it is! We are remodeling our guest bathroom right now, and I really like your idea of tiled baseboards. (We are saving the floor for last because, although I don't like the floor, there is nothing wrong with it.) I also like the crocheted angels - a creative way to add privacy to the window without obscuring the view. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Mariette! <3

    1. Dearest Stacy,
As a matter of fact, our entire interior is European. When we came for the first time to the USA,we did bring our belongings with us. Guess that's the best one can do. It makes you feel right at home with your familiar surroundings. All our furniture is solid French oak so it took the three journeys across the Atlantic very well! We're still in love with it and will not change that at all. And not even dare to paint it white. The kitchen and bathrooms are white though!
The angels are not crocheted however. Antique ones were done on hand knotted net but I did purchase this netting ready bought and with French DMC thread I did make these Filet Lace Embroidered Angels. Tedious but so very worth your time. The edging is the only thing that's crocheted; just my own way of fastening it off in order to stretch it over those brass mini nails. Not following any pattern, I did fold the netting's edge as to kind of fasten it off in a sturdy way. Next post I will show these angels in detail and with pattern that I followed as well.
      Hugs to you,
      Mariette
