On July 28, a dear blogger friend, Suzi from The Smart Cat, did post about Good and Bad... When scrolling down, past her hippo, you will find her double orange dailily. As a reply to the comment that I left her she stated that she would love to see Our Double Orange Dailily or Hemerocallis. In keeping that promise, here it is:
These beauties are a gift as they just showed up on our property.
Birds? Who knows...
They show large raindrops in this photo, taken on June 17 by husband Pieter after he just had buried our Sacha-girl...
Maybe those were tears from heaven?
Lots of raindrops and lots of weeds too.
No chance this year for tidying our garden.
The hose on the ground has not been used at all this summer.
Just the other day when Pieter went to work on the bridge, near the road, he noticed some sloppy mess near our electric pump. Something orange sticking out... When he went to check it out he noticed that his heavy duty 100 ft extension cord had been cut off and stolen! Since there was absolutely no use for running the pump to water the plants with all our torrential rains, he had not noticed it before.
Nice people that trespass one's property for stealing things!
They might cash in on all the copper that is inside for getting cash in order to buy some more dope...

Gosh ~ so pretty! Much better than those weeds that seem to pop up unexpectedly. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful weekend Mariette!
xo Catherine
Dearest Catherine,
DeleteHaha, weeds don't pop up unexpectedly but due to our torrential rain. We have another thunderstorm and it is pouring down as I write...
Hugs,
Mariette
oh, terrible about the theft!
ReplyDeletelove the lily, though.
Dearest Theresa,
DeleteYou're right on that; wish we too had four canines like you do!
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Mariette, so sorry to hear about the theft. Love your lily photos!!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Linda,
DeleteIt is a shame that people behave like that. Our daylily at least made up for the misery...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, It is frightening how people are willing to do such desecration to obtain small quantities of copper. As someone who loves old buildings, I worry about vandalism to obtain old copper gutters, flashing, screens, etc.
ReplyDeleteYour double day lily is very exotic-looking. I like the old-fashioned look of beds of day lilies, some dating from the 19th century; Euell Gibbons in his books has expounded on their edible properties, which I tried and found quite good.
--Road to Parnassus
Dear Jim,
DeleteIt indeed is a desecration!
We love our double day lilies.
As for the edible properties, indeed the are suitable for that. On June 7 I did mention them for that use. I've not eaten them yet.
Thanks for your visit and always interesting comments.
Hugs,
Mariette
Lieber Gruss,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletees gab viel nachzulsen.
Mariette
What a beautiful color:) I adore that flower!
ReplyDeleteDearest Sonaj,
DeleteIt is quite an adorable flower indeed.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh they are so gorgeous! Amazing they just showed up! I once had a sunflower showed up behind our townhouse. Maybe from bird seed I put out for birds?
ReplyDeleteIt's awful there are people who steal things like that :-(
Have a lovely Sunday, Mariette. Looks like it's gonna be sunny here today.
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteWe had such a humid day; too hot for walking... Real Feel over 100°F. We just had our daily thunderstorm with heavy rain.
Good that we do have some pretty flowers to surprise us once in a while.
People stealing things is such a low act!
Hugs to you and happy week ahead.
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Ger
Lieve Ger,
DeletePrachtig ja zo'n mooie felgekleurde lelie is heel bijzonder.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing those pictures of yet another beauty. We have seen Lilies in lighter yellow with a little hint of Orange, but not this shade of Orange.
Oh the nerve of those people to trespass and destroy someone else's belongings.
I am hoping for the day when people will respect and value each other and their properties.
Dearest Munir,
DeleteYes, this one is so vivid in color, a beauty on its own.
A few percent of society always create problems for others. Respect for each other and other peoples property seems to be out of the window. Morals have declined and what Hollywood is producing is by far a good example to our youth. The lack of so many fathers in broken families is the main cause!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful lilies with this rare shade of orange color♡♡♡ We can guess how you must felt then; "tears from heaven"!!! In Japan, it seems so much rain in one place and no rain in another place. So sad and sorry to hear about the theft. As I couldn't get the reason well, your explanation surprised me a little.
Have a wonderful Sunday, my friend. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteThis shade of orange and the double form makes them quite exotic looking. A joy to have them and regardless with or without 'tears from heaven'. We just had another thunderstorm coming down upon our garden...
Oh, those people go after copper and don't care at all; no respect for another man's property at all.
Hugs to you and wishing you a happy new week.
Mariette
How pretty. We have orange day lily, but they are not this double variety. The contrast is lovely!
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
DeleteOh, there are endless varieties and blooming in single or double form.
Enjoy your new week!
Hugs,
Mariette
What a lovely treasure to appear in your garden. I would say definitely an angelic gift. How awful my friend to have anyone take something from you. I know it must be most disheartening and a feeling of being violate. Sending you hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
DeleteIt seems like an angelic gift and we do enjoy them.
Sure, if somebody does trespass your property and steal from you that is a feeling of being violated.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Just showed up on your property - how lucky you are, Mariette! Yesterday, I moved the day lilies that were in an overgrown flower box. I just did away with the box altogether - in an unfortunate location that made it too much work. I hope the lilies like their new home! <3
ReplyDeleteDearest Stacy,
DeleteSuch an exotic beauty is a true asset to our garden.
As for your day lilies liking their new home depends of course on the location where you replanted them. With some rain they will keep on 'living'.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour lilies are gorgeous. They look like a slightly different variety from mine.
What is it about these flowers? They seem to be spreading joy throughout the world without any human help.
When I rescued mine from my other house the deer had done such a job on them that they were nothing more than small leaves poking up in the dirt. I've been nursing them in a pot for several years now. I think finally they are ready to put in the ground.
Thanks for the link to my blog. It's always appreciated.
Enjoy the week ahead....*s*
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteAs for the link to your blog; you are quite welcome and you did deserve it!
Sometimes seeds are being transported by wind or by birds and it can result in some lovely surprises. Day lilies are a regal looking flower with lots of pride; even in its leaves.
Hugs to you and a happy new week.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette, You daylily gift from above looks so stunning against the black background of your blog. I know that often the simplest pleasure just appears when we need it most.
ReplyDeleteAs the jerk that stole the extension cord, I just say to him as my mom used to say to me. "Any thing you steal you will pay back in medical bills!" I always imagined, if I stole something I would have to get a shot from the doctor. It worked for me, maybe the thief's mamma should have used that one.
Love to you,
Ginger
Dearest Ginger,
DeleteYes, this exotic day lily find on the day of our Sacha-girl's death was a very welcome gift from above!
Who knows how that jerk will one day get to pay back for stealing from us and others. He will have to face his final judge one day.
Hugs to you and happy new week.
Mariette
Wonderful color, a ray of light!
ReplyDeleteFantasy Jewellery
Dearest Serena,
DeleteThis is a jewel in its own way...
Hugs,
Mariette
WOW, they are amazing!!! You have the most gorgeous flowers! :) Thank you for sharing these beauties with us.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the theft... that's awful. A big hug to you, dearest Mariette!
Dearest Anna,
DeleteThanks for your visit and compliment and indeed, a very sad fact that we are living with a few percent of people that have no respect for other's property.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow orange flowers are not something you see a lot of
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteA very happy and sunny color.
Hugs,
Mariette
What a wonderful Daylily, dearest Mariette!
ReplyDeleteA really wonderful flower, thanks for showing to us!
Happy new week,
Love and hugs
Claudia
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteThis is a beauty and worth for showing it to more people.
Enjoy your summer and your garden.

Mariette
Dearest Maritte,
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful property show large raindrops in the photo.
Lots of raindrops and lots of werds and no chance this year for tidying your gaden and your house on the grount has not been used at all this summer.
When Pieter went to work on the bride near the road he noticed some electric pump, he has working so hard with man and he has not noticed it before.
Hugs all things going will!
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteAt least it is a blessing for having in-between heavy rains lots of beautiful flowers that brighten up our summer. It is sad that people do steal things...
Hugs to you dear friend.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteHow very pretty and vibrant your lovely orange Lily is and to just show up in your garden. So sad when people steal and so sorry that this happened to you.
Sending hugs and wishing you a lovely week
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
DeleteThanks and yes, this was a joyful sight to see a beautiful day lily. Not so the fact that some criminal(s) took the heavy duty outdoor extension cord.
Hugs and enjoy also your week.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented with flowers and garden, you and your husband Pieter. It's always enjoyable to see your pictures.
Hugs
Astrid
Dearest Astrid,
DeleteThanks for your kind words. It is more luck with the weather and for getting 'some' rain; not as much as we got this summer.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures, it is a joy to share them.
Hugs,
Mariette
