{Our Liriope Muscari - Border Grass or Lily-turf}

Our evergreen tufts of arching grass-like plants around the driveway are called Liriope Muscari and common names are Border Grass (that's exactly what we use them for!) or Lily-turf. YES, they are a member of the LILY family and not actually a grass! Find more information below this post.
This photo is taken on August 1, and you can see how green our grass looks after all that rain!
Our Liriope Muscari Variegata or Lily-turf looked also quite happy.
We indeed use it as a Border Grass alongside our driveway!
In the top right corner you see the stem of our palm tree...
Do you have some Liriope Muscari Variegata either in purple or in white?

  2. I have been thinking a lot about a border grass along the driveway. This year we did a lot of landscaping, but didn't get to that...yet. This is a beautiful variety

      This is a very strong, non-fuzzy plant that is so rewarding! You can start out with few and divide them each year if you want to.

    Oh, how great having this great color (purple is considered noble color in japan) of Lily-turf along the driveway♡♡♡ Although we can see them a lot here, I never knew they are a member of the LILY family p;)

      Oh, I do know the very special Japanese meaning of colors but we did not even consider this when we bought them. Sometimes it is surprising to find out which family certain plants belong to!
      Hugs back to my friend from the rising sun.

      Oh, these stings, as it turned out there were two, were nasty for a couple of days but now its a lot better. In the corner of the eye and below, that was rather dangerous too!
      No, I killed all those wasps... such a sad thing that they occupied the bird house of a little wren!

  19. Dear Mariette,
    I only knew of the Muscari Armeniacum (which I do have in my garden – but it blooms in spring) and the Muscari comosum - Tassel hyacinth (the bulbs of which are edible here in Greece, especially in Crete).
    Your Border Grass is so beautiful and I love its purple colour!!
    I will check with our garden center whether it is available here.

      You don't need to buy a lot, you can split them each year and divide. It takes only a couple of years.
