Having worked and lived in the Venice, Italy area, of course we are very fond of anything from that region. For my health, controlling my blood sugar level, alcohol is of course not a good thing. In 2007 I got diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and since than I have avoided most sugars. It is a joy for being able to toast around New Year with something in your glass. Already during our flights on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, back and forth to work in Indonesia, I came to appreciate Moscato d'Asti wine with its 5.5 percent of alcohol. That was a great bonus when being upgraded into business class. I would skip wine with the meal but enjoyed it after. So this 2011 Pink Moscato delle Venezie with only 5 percent of alcohol is another find.
Using my Japanese tray; gift from my host family in Osaki City, from my visit to Japan in July of 2007 as a chaperon.
This Pink Moscato has a fine “frizzante” effervescence as you can see in our French Baccarat crystal glasses.
At the top you just barely can read: Delle Venezie - 2011 Mochetto Delle Venezie Moscato Rosa
We found ours at Cost Plus World Market
Cheers to 2014 and to good health!
glad you can still imbibe a bit.

Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteIndeed, at first with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines I enjoyed a Moscato d'Asti after the dinner. Alcohol has never been a thing that I enjoyed much, other than one glass of wine or a Campari with orange juice.
This worked fine for the holidays and I will keep my blood sugar level in check.
Hugs,
Mariette

Dearest Kay,
DeleteWhen it is only one glass like this low percentage of alcohol, nothing wrong with that!
Hugs,
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
Z pewnością ma wspaniały smak :). Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteCertainly have great taste :). Yours.

Paola
ReplyDeleteCarissima Paola,
DeleteDavvero, un pò della tua terra è qua con noi. Sará facile per trovare questo vino per voi.
Salute a voi per un buon anno anche con le tuoi cari e amici.
Baci,
Mariette
It looks and sounds like a beautiful wine Mariette - I will look for it here.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a light rosé wine in Summer - it has hints of strawberries or raspberries and best of all a lower alcohol content.
For something special I make Bellinis with an Italian Prosecco and a little white peach nectar - delicious!
HUGS for 2014
Shane
Dearest Shane,
DeleteThose Bellinis we get at Ristorante da Maria and they also use the authentic Prosecco, the sexy Italian cousin of Champagne. You for sure will find it in your area as well. I love the lower alcohol content and also its fruity flavor.
Many hugs for 2014 and may there be several reasons for toasting with a Bellini or Moscato!
Mariette
Beautiful pictures and I have to try the Pink Moscato.

May 2014 be also a great year for all of you and in great health.

Cheers to you and Pieter, dearest Mariette!!!!! I too like Moscato wines very much because of their low alcohol percentage. We do produce Moscato wines in Greece also, but I think they are mostly white and some are semi-sweet (vin de liqueur).
ReplyDeleteHugs!!!
Marie-Anne
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteThank you and cheers back to you. Their low alcohol percentage makes it great for many reasons and occasions.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteCheers! :)
I had no idea that Moscato had such a low percentage in alcohol... Italian wines are indeed very precious, and being from Piedmont (where many if not most of the best Italian wines come from -- you mentioned Asti, that's in Piedmont too) I feel very proud of my heritage.
Thank you for your sweet comment on my post! That is indeed a heavenly place! I feel so connected to Nature and to a higher Power up there! Such places were already considered sacred in very old times, long before Christianity. You can indeed understand why when you are up there and feel the energy.
Hugs!
Hugs to you!
Dearest Anna,
DeleteWell, I only learned about it while traveling a lot as international consultant. In Italy we drank the Picolit, the precious and prized dessert wine. Our boss had a small 500 ml bottle in the trunk of his car, for handing it to us at the airport and when he opened the trunk he saw that it had exploded. WHAT a loss...! Italy has so many great wines and you certainly can be very proud of that Moscato d'Asti. We also found the Roscato Rosso Dolce, a red version with 7% alcohol. So for all people that cannot consume alcohol, this might be a good escape and also for those that suffer from diabetes.
You are so right about that Higher Power that you are very aware of at such places.
“Sometimes when I'm faced with an atheist, I am tempted to invite him to the greatest gourmet dinner that one could ever serve, and when we have finished eating that magnificent dinner, to ask him if he believes there's a cook.” ― Ronald Reagan
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette;
ReplyDeleteCheers to you for bright 2014, too♡♡♡ I'm glad you could find your favorite "Pink Moscato delle Venezie" and LOVED to see how you served it. It is great to see Japanese tray matches with great wine, don't you think♬♬♬

Sending you lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
