{CHIA for Iron Boost and Good for Blood Sugar Level}

Are you already aware of the great benefits of using CHIA seeds in your daily diet? Use CHIA for Iron Boost and it is also Good for Blood Sugar Level. That are two big reasons for me to embrace these powerful seeds! Being Diabetes type 2 and also having had on and off bouts of anemia, sure made CHIA a permanent item in our kitchen! Are you using it too?
CHIA seeds can be used in a number of ways. Here I added it to some cole slaw, together with dried cranberries and a dressing of Trader Joe's reduced fat mayonaise with some brown rice vinegar and CHIA Seeds. You can find below post a link from previous post with photos of this mayonaise.
Daily we both add CHIA Seeds to our Trader Joe's 0% Greek Yogurt with some fresh fruits. Chia seeds work gelatinous so keep that in mind when adding to certain dishes. Best is to do it right before being served.
So again, I did reveal another Secret for my size and weight...

For USA, Canada and Mexico citizens you can find CHIA SEEDS from Carrington Farms  at Costco Wholesale

  1. How interesting and informative! I have to find out if there is Chia seeds sold here, as Alejandro and me are very good at doing healthy food and things like sedes, and nuts, etc. I'm still in awe of it's goodness. I'm copying this and will let you know if I found them here. Thank you so much for your support lovely lady, you are so wonderful and soo very generous with me, a true friend!
Have a lovely and blessed week ahead and yes, I will pray for your Leprosy cause. Who knew there were places were it's still rampant!

So sorry to see that my comment got lost due to Internet problems...
Trying again to reply. My guess is that you will find those Chia seeds in your area as well, they do exist a couple of years already. Thank you for your kind words and prayers for the Leprosy cause is greatly appreciated. Wish more people would think about them and prayer is the least one can do. Also informing others and making it known to the world that Leprosy is still around.

  5. Hello Mariette, I am looking forward to experimenting with chia seeds my next trip home. If I like them, I can bring some back here. We really need a Trader Joe's in Taiwan!

    1. Dearest Jim,
Would be great if you could find them in Taiwan since we are so limited in bringing things back in a suitcase. Paying dearly for the 2nd suitcase. Times have changed and not for the better, courtesy has almost evaporated... Too many obese people and the airlines punish ALL passengers for that by restricting baggage allowance. Not a fair trade!
      Happy February week to you.

  6. Dearest Mariette,
What interesting information about Chia seeds. I noticed them when on the Bob's Red Mill shelf when I was in our local Job Lot (A local discount place that has wholesale agreements with many manufacturers.)
I am afraid I have been still been thinking of them as those ubiquitous Chia Pets.
It's snowing here; yesterday it was in the high 40'sF. This is New /england after all!

Those Chia Pets do sprout the Slavia Hispanica; same thing! But it is a great seed for our health. Good for you to have such a Job Lot, guess it will be similar to our Big Lots and it is amazing at times what you find on their shelves.
Stay well and warm and enjoy this February week!

  8. Dear Mariette,

Thank you for your always kind and considerate comments! You are a very sweet lady! I heard about the seeds. They are very popular in Holland too. Friends of mine use them as well, but so far I haven't used them myself. Next time I spot them on the shelve in the supermarket I will take a pack home with me.

    Wishing you a Happy week!

I´ve never heard of chia seeds..
Yes, we drive Saab, both of us. For ever and ever, haha.
Television (CNN) showed snowstorms in Atlanta, I hope it didn't hit you.
I wish you a pleasant journey and I´m waiting excitedly for Barbie.

No, this is not the same as sesame seeds. You can get them in Sweden, just google it and you will find out and maybe at wholsale or large supermarkets you find them too.
It is from the Maya's and actually these are seeds from the Salvia Hispanica!
Don't worry, we are still some 2-½ hours south of Atlanta and we only had the ice... no snow. But Atlanta was a disaster; the airport cancelled most flights for those days as they are not equiped for de-icing the wings. Not even equiped for keeping the roads clear of ice and snow...
Now it is very mild but rain and gray...
It looks like at the same time you wrote this comment; I was printing the mailing label for your Barbie - telepathy!

Oh; I've never heard of this seed☆☆☆ I checked with pc and it said the name derived from Mayan language and it means "power". It seemed they had them with corn and bean like staple food. The page also introduced it as "super food", haha but skipped the antioxidant part. I don't think we can find them easily here (maybe just through pc). " Healthy Foods for a Healthy Soul"!!! I always learn things from you, my dear friend. Take Care and have a nice week ahead♪

  22. Lieve Mariette,

      Liefs,
      Mariette
