{Daffodils in a Vase on a Dark Day...}

On March 5, it was very dark and dreary looking... Not a good day for taking photos but I had to, as our lovely Daffodils already started drying up in their Mason's Patent Ironstone Mandalay Vase... I did wait for a better opportunity but it did not happen this year and the daffodils are almost gone by now. So this is what I can show you here:
Using our Mason's Patent Ironstone Mandalay Chartreuse Vase.
Placemat is French Le Jacquard Français
Tiggy-Tiger is a sad cat-girl on this dreary and dark day... They love sunshine as much as I do!
Her sister (by adoption) Spicy, is outside next to the tree.
Daffodils in fact are paper-thin flowers and they do dry out rather easy when the air-conditioning is running for heating the home.
Our Heirloom Daffodils we all selected because of their fragrance...
At least our garden did yield some lovely fragrant daffodils this year!
Do you have any at your place and could you fill up a vase?

  8. Liebe Mariette,
    Narzissen - besonders an trüben Tagen - bringen Sonne ins Zimmer und ins Leben.
    Leider sind sie bei mir verblüht. Ich hätte denKkrug befüllen können. Der Krug ist wieder
    eine Augenweide.
    Einen sonnigen Sonntag wünscht Dir
    Irmi

  11. hello
    Daffodils

    I wandered lonely as a cloud
    That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
    When all at once I saw a crowd,
    A host, of golden daffodils;
    Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
    Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

    Continuous as the stars that shine
    And twinkle on the milky way,
    They stretched in never-ending line
    Along the margin of a bay:
    Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
    Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

    The waves beside them danced; but they
    Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
    A poet could not but be gay,
    In such a jocund company:
    I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
    What wealth the show to me had brought:

    For oft, when on my couch I lie
    In vacant or in pensive mood,
    They flash upon that inward eye
    Which is the bliss of solitude;
    And then my heart with pleasure fills,
    And dances with the daffodils.

  13. Dearest Mariette they are lovelies!! We do have some at our country home .. but still snow covered will have to wait to see if there will be enough to fill a vase. In the meantime I am enjoying my cup of tea with your darlings ... your place mat and vase are beautiful and perfect for show casing the yellow lovelies. UMMMM did you say air conditioner??? we still have the furnace going here :( ... soon I know spring warm temps will happen. We are finally above zero ... but the chill in the air takes any warmth away. Wishing you and Pieter a blessed Sunday ...hugs, C.

  16. Hi Mariette, your daffodils are beautiful! The vase is very pretty, too.
    I agree dark days are not perfect for taking photos, especially flowers and scenery and such. But I love your photos with natural day light. We had rainy day yesterday, but it's beautiful today. I see no clouds! Have a lovely Sunday and great new week xoxo

  17. Such a lovely bunch! When I lived in Cordele GA, I had daffodils coming up all over the place. Someone had just randomly put bulbs out in the yard. No daffodils here. For sure they couldn't survive this environment. Have a great day. Tammy

  24. Dearest Mariette,
    Thank you for sharing your beautiful daffodils! They are so beautiful, and they certainly make for some bright, happy color on a grey day... I'm sure they cheered up your Tiggy-Tiger as well, and I hope the weather has already gotten better, so the kitties can enjoy spring to the fullest. We have daffodils in bloom here too... Sometimes they "escape" from gardens and grow as wild flowers in the meadows... such beautiful patches of color!
    Hugs :)
