{Fragrant Heirloom Daffodils & My Chocolate Addiction...}

Just being frank and honest; YES I am addicted to DARK Chocolate... On February 23, I did enjoy my LAST (!) piece of dark chocolate letter 'M' with my hot tea. They are all gone and I'm about to make me something chocolaty to enjoy. Do you like chocolate as well? Yes, I know I'm diabetes type 2 but I will NOT give up my dark chocolate. Hell no!
That's a dream, even with the sunshine lacking...
Fragrant Heirloom Daffodils and a CHUNCK of Dark Chocolate!
If any of you out there love those chocolate letters, try to get some on sale at The Dutch Store Vander Veen's in Michigan, USA.
Because of those dark days I had to go out on our balcony for having some light...
And there is the sun!
Perfectly teamed up with the  Mason's Mandalay Chartreuse vase and teacup.
Those Heirloom Daffodils are oh so fragrant!
Lovely for having some different fragrant varieties outside as well...
Lovely view from our bay window during breakfast...
We just made a long walk at 4:30 PM till 5:30 PM and look how warm it still was:
Yep: 28°C or 82°F at 16:23...

  3. Dearest Mariette ; that really is delicious chocolate ... we have nibbled slowly at ours over time ... It was such a treat - merci. Your teacup is lovely as are your daffodils and the vase. The temps are warming up this way too .... but its going to be a while before all the snow disappears and mother nature's beauty revealed.... enjoy the sunshine hugs and blessings, Celia M. -(HHL)

Thank you and you love dark chocolate as well; most people love the milk as it is sweeter I guess. We went from very windy and cold to WARM! Love it and we went for a long walk late afternoon, after first having a tea together.
Hugs and blessings to both of you from both of us.

  4. Dark chocolate is the best! I usually buy it in Italy, as we can find Swiss and Austrian chocolate easily.

    1. Dearest Daniela,
It for sure is the most healthy one too and I always preferred the dark or pure chocolate. There are several good European chocolate brands but for importing them is a bit costly. So best is to make our own, using the dark chocolate from Trader Joe's...
      Hugs,

Now the pretty season starts for us where we can enjoy tea outside on the balcony, in the gazebo or on the little patio behind the house.
Hope you too will soon see more sunshine!

Meine Tochter Michelle liebt dunkle Schokolade seit kleines Kind. Was eher selten ist. Dunkle Schokolade ist ja gesünder wie helle. Am liebsten mag ich Schweizer Schokolade. :-)

      Liefs,

  10. Hello Mariette, Your tea tray was a delight to behold. It has been a while since I have seen the sun here, so I enjoyed your vignette all the more. I use dark chocolate to make coconut macaroons--probably not for diabetics, although there is much less sugar than in most cookies.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Well, as a child, my Dad used to prefer dark chocolate and also the big Dutch coconut macaroons. I too love to make them with chocolate and when using coconut palm sugar, they are fine for diabetics. Especially when home baked, you can control the amount of sugar.
This starts looking like a confession of things we love to indulge in; and that during Lent! Sorry for bringing it up at the wrong time...
Hope the sun will show its lovely face soon at your side of the planet.
      Kindest regards,
      Mariette

Well, you're getting into fall and probably that's milder. Our daffodils or whatever flowers so far don't seem to mind the sunshine, it is cloudy too so not scorching heat right away.
We enjoy them for the time being, it is only a couple of weeks each year and than they're gone...
      Hugs,

  16. Lieve Mariette,

Your daffodils are a lovely reminder that spring will come! I may have to buy some as they will be so late here!
No chocolate for me as I am terribly allergic to it! And I mean really allergic! But I can eat small quantities of white chocolate which I love with raspberries over ice cream.
Like you I have type 2 diabetes and don't overindulge. However I would much rather have a small portion of very good commercial or homemade icecream than a huge portion of non-sugar stuff. Small and good is far more satisfying than big and tasteless.
Since Monday we have had sun and temps in the forties and fifties. It's not your weather but it is warm enough to open doors and windows.

Was it also dark chocolate that you are talking about? Milk is a lot sweeter but not the dark one and that's why it also is healthier due to the high cacao content.
