HELP came too late for this DRAGONFLY...

Well, this was a sad discovery, inside our KIA Soul Sport...
A dragonfly had gotten trapped inside and probably cooked behind the window, in a corner.
So sorry as I love these elegant creatures!

Thanks for your visit and comment.

  1. Hello Mariette, Too bad for this dragonfly, especially since dragonflies eat many mosquitoes. I just read that dragonflies live for six months, so perhaps this one was at the end of its life and tired. In Taiwan we have lots of dragonflies--sometimes they swarm together in tremendous numbers.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Dragonflies are elegant looking creatures but they are quite a hunter!
Did not know that their life span is only about six months so this could well be towards the end of his/her life then.
That is unique, seeing them in big swarms.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Claudia,
They make for elegant pictures and prints whatever.
Life can end in a strange way for cheaters and for humans... it’s all part of the game.

  3. They are harmless (as. kids we used to compare them with the helicopter)

    1. Dearest Haddock,
Sure, for humans they are harmless but they’re less friendly towards other insects.
Elegant creature and being drawn on many things, like fabric and such.
      Hugs,

  4. Oh I'm so sorry for the dragonfly. I rarely see dragonflies around here, but spotted one while ago. Goro was fascinated! I know he wanted to hunt it but unfortunately for him, it was outside the window :-)

Yes, that was a very sad ending...
We see them in our garden, near the water and near the creek.
Goro no doubt loved hunting it but he could not... lucky for the dragonfly!

    1. Beste Willy,
Ja, dat was een trieste aanblik en mogelijk is het binnengevlogen terwijl de deur open was.
      Dit werd hem/haar fataal...
      Liefs,
      Mariette

It sure is sad as they are such elegant creatures and also beneficial for catching nasty mosquitoes.

Indeed, that one was a poor dragonfly... unless it was ‘aged’.

  10. When I was a child, dragonflies were good friends of mine. They were waiting for children to come out into the field. Have a nice weekend.

We sure grew up knowing them too and followed them while going to the fields with Mom & Dad.
