Hello Mariette, Too bad for this dragonfly, especially since dragonflies eat many mosquitoes. I just read that dragonflies live for six months, so perhaps this one was at the end of its life and tired. In Taiwan we have lots of dragonflies--sometimes they swarm together in tremendous numbers. --Jim
Dearest Jim, Dragonflies are elegant looking creatures but they are quite a hunter! Did not know that their life span is only about six months so this could well be towards the end of his/her life then. That is unique, seeing them in big swarms. Hugs, Mariette
Dearest Claudia, They make for elegant pictures and prints whatever. Life can end in a strange way for cheaters and for humans... it’s all part of the game. Hugs, Mariette
Dearest Haddock, Sure, for humans they are harmless but they’re less friendly towards other insects. Elegant creature and being drawn on many things, like fabric and such. Hugs, Mariette
Oh I'm so sorry for the dragonfly. I rarely see dragonflies around here, but spotted one while ago. Goro was fascinated! I know he wanted to hunt it but unfortunately for him, it was outside the window :-)
Dearest Tamago, Yes, that was a very sad ending... We see them in our garden, near the water and near the creek. Goro no doubt loved hunting it but he could not... lucky for the dragonfly! Hugs, Mariette
Dearest RTC, We sure grew up knowing them too and followed them while going to the fields with Mom & Dad. They insisted our love and appreciation for the beauty of nature. Hugs, Mariette

Dat is een trieste dood.
ReplyDeleteBeste Willy,
DeleteJa, dat was een trieste aanblik en mogelijk is het binnengevlogen terwijl de deur open was.
Dit werd hem/haar fataal...
Liefs,
Mariette
Sad. Not many dragonflies in the UK.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteIt sure is sad as they are such elegant creatures and also beneficial for catching nasty mosquitoes.
Hugs,
Mariette
Sad. But awesome photo!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteIn a way it sure is...
Hugs,
Mariette
The poor dragonfly
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteIndeed, that one was a poor dragonfly... unless it was ‘aged’.
Hugs,
Mariette
So sad. Poor creature.
ReplyDeleteDearest Regine,
DeleteYes, it sure is sad and even more so for an elegant creature.
Hugs,
Mariette
That is sad Mariette, they are extraordinary creatures with beautiful gossamer wings ✨
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
DeleteYes it was and you write it here in such a poetic way!
Hugs,
Mariette
When I was a child, dragonflies were good friends of mine. They were waiting for children to come out into the field. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
DeleteWe sure grew up knowing them too and followed them while going to the fields with Mom & Dad.
They insisted our love and appreciation for the beauty of nature.
Hugs,
Mariette
They are nice animals.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
DeleteAnimals? They sure belong to the Insect group of creatures in nature.
Hugs,
Mariette
Brilliant Post
ReplyDeleteCheers
Dearest Travis,
DeleteThank you,

Poor dragonfly!!! I like them so much! But this also happened to me with a cricket that got trapped in my car!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Marie-Anne
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteYes, this can happen to anyone... bad luck for the insect.
Hugs,
Mariette
