Hello Mariette, That is an amazing performance by Pieter--he didn't lack the ingenuity or the strength to free the stuck chainsaw. I don't know if I would have attempted to operate any chainsaw in the rain. I used to fell and split lots of trees in the woods when I worked on making maple syrup, which is normally an entirely wood-fueled operation. Well-planned wood cutting can provide plenty of fuel for evaporating the maple sap while maintaining a healthy woods. --Jim
Dearest Jim, It sure was amazing. When Pieter did cut the first tree, that became visible at the very end of this clip, the Georgia weather was good. It can change here in a minute and since Pieter had rented this chainsaw, he continued with it. It's good there was a clearing for that tree to fall. Sure looks like it was a tall one. I have old video but don't even know how to transfer it since everything is on different types of media over the years. Amazing that you are able to access so much and retrieve those memories from days gone by.
Dearest Tammy, Thos trees were just ugly monsters that resided on our property. Now the then small semi-oak tree behind it, could flourish and grow into a solitary monument. Our videos came from still, the oldest ones to varies video like the Hi8 small tapes and then the normal size in multi-system. It was quite a task but only then can you begin to edit and work with it. And never forget, the date was often shown and we kept a diary till 2005... Hugs, Mariette
Gaaahhhh! Of course all I can think is that he was lucky not to have cut off an arm or leg. :-O (I'm just like my mother, think of the worst possible outcome first. LOL.) Anyway, I'm glad he succeeded and that there were no injuries, other than to the tree, of course.
Dearest Kim, Oh no, I'm a lot more adventurous I guess and can pretty well oversee what is coming. Lucky though that I captured this! Pieter has cut down several trees, also in our adjacent lot when he was clearing it to make it into a kind of an arboretum. You can't possibly have it all done professionally. We always have had to support Pieter's ex and adopted daughter and then you need to stretch your money... Being generous to othersp YOU pay for it. Hugs, Mariette

Dearest Victor, It is always a hard job, for whomever does this. We used to burn wood in our stove but it was too messy and we discovered that in the bark we did bring bugs inside... So we just stack it in the back of our yard where it vanishes naturally in no time. Sculptures is fine from hardwoods! Hugs, Mariette

Well, at times things just spontaneously flow from my mind; just like you show us all the time. Some people are scared of writing down thoughts, that never bothered me. Hugs, Mariette

Felling a tree is a tough job. It scares me every time my husband and son cut down trees.

A very difficult job indeed. The wood can be used for burning when it has dried out. Or for sculpture!!!
