Mexico City Restaurante Danubio a Basque Seafood restaurant

In-between a hectic schedule of work there always were those special moments...
A very happy dinner with our hosts Agustín and Carmen.
This was at the special Restaurante Danubio in Mexico City established in 1936 when two chefs of Basque origin emigrated to Mexico.
Specialty is Seafood.
On the wall are framed messages, written on a napkin from important characters that have eaten at Restaurante Danubio.
Important figures from Mexico and the world have eaten and enjoyed a meal such as artists, politicians, painters, athletes, writers and journalists.
Always enjoyable with such great mushroom friends!
Like in Italy, using olive oil and vinegar with the salad.
Another pleasant dinner on a Thursday evening on March 26, 1998 and from there we went to a Cuban bar, which was very nice but it was getting late.
It was almost 1:45 o'clock when we turned down the light in our room at the Camino Real Hotel, Mexico City and next morning we did rise at 7:30 o'clock.

  3. The meal looks wonderful! Thank you for all the sweet comments you make on my blog. I am glad you were finally able to get some bike riding in! We are still getting slammed with rain. Hoping it will get better by the weekend as we head to Poland on Monday.

You're more than welcome and it is always a joy for seeing images from the area so close to where I grew up!
Good luck with the weather, we just biked to the post office and running errands as rain is coming in the afternoon...

  4. Buena especialidad tiene el restaurante. Yo creo que no habrá una persona, que no le guste el marisco.

Excepto aquellos que dicen ser alérgicos a ella... Nosotros dos encantan los mariscos y a menudo los preparamos en casa.

  5. Hello Mariette, I'm glad that you and Pieter enjoyed these attractive meals, not only as a reward for your hard work and travel, but also because if people in agriculture don't appreciate the quality of food, that affects the way everyone eats!

    1. Dearest Jim,
We always have fully participated in any country or region for indulging together with the locals in 'their' food! It has been very rewarding as it can be delicious in a wide variety of dishes.

Thank you and yes, you are so right!
The only problem always was that we never had time for looking at things, alway on the run for the next flight, next job of consulting in yet another country/continent...
So now FINALLY it is look-back time!
      Hugs,
      Mariette
