Argiope Aurantia

Our Garden Critters that I want to share with you...
Argiope Aurantia or Black and Yellow Argiope Spider
What a beauty!
You clearly can see why they also call it the zigzag spider...
Pieter took an excellent photo of it.

    1. Dearest Veronica,
A stunner yes, but she will never win in size with those in Indonesia we saw and that you no doubt have also in Malaysia.

  3. Wow, very beautiful and a wonderful photo.

I'm terrified of spiders, though, and if I saw that, probably everyone in a 50 km radius would hear me screaming! :-O

    1. Dearest Kim,
This was a beauty that needed to be captured in a perfect way.
My youngest sister is also terrified of spiders but I guess those critters are more afraid of us as the other way around.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  7. Such a pretty spider. I would be delighted to find one…only if it was way out in the garden…far from my house!

She sure is pretty and rest assured, they are not interested in our house.
Very beneficial in catching flies, wasps, mosquitoes etc.

  10. Hello Mariette, Usually Fall is the season to see such large and stunning spiders, at least in Ohio. At least that kind isn't furry. In Taiwan we have some large ones, but luckily they are shy and don't cause too much of a problem.

That is correct and this photo is from September 23 when Pieter took it.
We know those large ones, from Indonesia! Never had a problem with them.

  15. Those colors are certainly great for this coming season - shades of gold seem to be popping up everywhere. . . . .I now need one of these colorful spiders on my porch to catch the mozzies - but only if it doesn't bite, lol!
    Great photo Pieter!

    1. Dearest Mary,
Yes, any golden colors will stand out.
We are so fortunate to have industrious little bats catching lots of our 'mozzies'. But near the greenhouse area you get pestered by lots of mosquitoes.
Nah, such a spider does not bite humans! They are serious and hard workers, catching insects and no interest in any human.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  16. Hui, die sieht direkt gefährlich aus, aber ich lese gerade, sie beißt die Menschen nicht.
