Toadstools or Mushrooms Digesting the Wood - Turkey tail

After cutting down trees, we both prefer to let the wood naturally decompose in our wood garden.
Husband Pieter took these photos of such an old tree being decomposed on December 4, 2021.
What you see in these photos are Turkey tail or Trametes versicolor.
Another perfect example of how mushrooms digest lignin and cellulose in nature.
Everything in nature has its function and so the cycle of life gets closed.
Do you have any variety of mushrooms in your garden?

    God bless.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Oh as Pieter quoted in his book 'Everything is everywhere, but the environment selects ~BAS BECKING.
Those spores are in the air or wherever and if there is old wood that they can digest, it will grow and help decompose.

    1. Dearest RTC,
Well, they seldom grow on living wood but rather digest the dead or dying wood.
Happy weekend to you and hugs,

    1. Cara Olga,
Questa รจ la funzione in natura di digerire le parti boscose, la lignina che l'uomo e gli animali non possono digerire... ciclo completo per il riciclo.

  5. Hello Mariette and Pieter, Of course the woods in Ohio were a mycologist's dream, but in damp Taiwan the most ubiquitous fungus is mildew!

    1. Dearest Jo-Anne,
Why would they give you the creeps? It is just the end-stage of digesting things in nature and nothing else. We cannot chew wood, they can and do it for us...

    1. Dearest Martha Jane,
Thank you, Pieter has captured numerous toadstool photos and very good ones.
Rain helps in the decaying of trees or roots and so the fruit bodies will show.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  8. I would love to have a garden, although where I live there is a lot of green and many trees. I really like the contact with nature. It's simply inspiring.

    1. Dearest Christina,
It sure is the best there is in life, observing nature in all its splendor.
BUT weeds also grow in nature and having a big garden means a lot of work.
So far we've always enjoyed it and with some help for now, we still enjoy it.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
