Acer Blossom Samaras Acer Japonicum Aureum Golden Full Moon Maple

ONLY once we have seen blossom samaras on our Acer Japonicum Aureum or Golden Full Moon Maple...
17 seconds video showing these blossom samaras...

Have you seen those on your maple trees?

Just went to the pond area and noticed that they produce blossom samaras again!

One has to really search and look for them as they are not on all branches!

    1. Querida Antónia,
Acabamos de llegar a casa de un viaje y aún no hemos mirado... Es un arce ornamental japonés muy hermoso que se encuentra cerca de nuestro estanque.
      Abrazos,

  3. How beautiful. I don't think maple trees grow here.

    God bless.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Thank you and indeed this is a lovely small Acer Japonicum Aureum and you have plenty of them growing in the UK, just as in The Netherlands and elsewhere with ornamental gardens.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  4. Aren't they lovely! Do the trees have some sort of flowering cycle that takes so many years? Or is it more about where the tree is growing? Nature, in all her forms, is amazing. :-)

    1. Dearest Kim,
They sure were stunning and both of us have no idea of they repeat it only once every so many years. At present we have not even studied them, as I replied to Antónia, we just got back from a 3–night trip. The kitties were very happy to see me pull up in the driveway but they did fine with Ingrid, their cat–love lady that comes twice to feed them.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Just went over there and added two pictures as I found some, not spectacular this year but some branches sure do have them!

Yes, the lime green color is so beautiful in early Spring.
We both might have overlooked those flowers and often we were not home to actually notice them!

  8. Hello Mariette, Perhaps your warm weather discourages blossom production in maples. In Ohio, the maples produce massive amounts of blossoms and samaras, the winged seeds. When were were little, we used to break the samaras in half; the tiny revealed edge was somewhat sticky and we would stick them on our skin or elsewhere.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Indeed, that might have an impact on our maples at times not producing blossoms.
And we might have missed them, not even knowing that they DO bloom.
You got fond childhood memories of those sticky samaras.
      Thanks for sharing!
      Hugs,
      Mariette
