    1. Dearest Sheri,
Yes, husband Pieter got that remark from the exam board as he finished his university study—about the use of tools such as black board, white board or flip board—he is one of the very best! Did add that and also the link to his exceptional grades.
Feeling very proud of him and he's helped thousands of mushroom growers—understanding their problems and getting insight in the actual growing techniques.
This will be of help to many and that's why I worked on the 'closed captions' — labor of love for others.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  6. Hello Mariette and Pieter, Sorry for this late reply, but I still have to pick and choose a little what posts to examine closely. This post brings up several crucial points about education. Good colleges will make every effort to get hold of unique speakers or guest professors, even if they are not regular teachers there. This not only gives their students access to the best teaching, but also the experts, many of whom are not employed by colleges, can get their expertise out where it will do the most good.

I was particularly impressed with the depth of knowledge Pieter showed when answering questions, for instance the one about mixing in salt, which only creates a short-term solution to a problem. Pieter's showed a better solution, while explaining in detail the chemistry and mycology behind it. He is generous with sharing his experience. How lucky that this video was taken, so we can see Pieter in action!

    1. Dearest Jim,
Thank you and you are so right about colleges in providing great expertise to students and short courses for the industry.
Yes, Pieter was excellent in always explaining the WHY and HOW of certain things—so the students or listener would fully understand.
Even with very poor quality (due to a copy of the one taken by his former colleague) that I found and managed to make digital—it is a treasure to us and will be to several that still can learn from it.
Guess, those were Pieter's best years, even though he continued for a few decades more in doing what he does best!
      Hugs,
      Mariette
