{How I miss our Syringa 'Krasavitsa Moskvy' Lilac...}

We do have such a drought right now that it is tough to keep our plants and shrubs alive. How I long for the time that we had our lush shrub of white Lilacs; Syringa 'Krasavitsa Moskvy' and I have only two photos of their blossoms. What a possession that was and the heavenly fragrance. But the shrub died in our hot climate... Those photos are not the best ones I took, but it gives you at least an idea. They're being shown with our Philadelphus mock orange. Even the mock orange barely had blooms this year. It is by no means a showy year for beautiful vases with blossoms! Thank goodness for photos to enjoy them when they're not at their best or even when they're no longer living in the garden...
How lucky are those that can grow lilacs and enjoy their heavenly fragrance!

  1. Dear Mariette,

Such a shame when the climate and lack of water dictates what we grow in our garden.
Over summer where we live, water is a problem so have to sometimes change the type of plants I grow.
I love your pretty teacup with the violets.
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend

    Hugs
    Carolyn

  4. 't Was hier zó ongelooflijk droog de laatste weken/maanden, maar gelukkig heeft 't de laatste dagen flink geregend. 't Gras is nu weer groen, kale plekken groeien ook weer dicht en over 't onkruid zal ik maar zwijgen .... 't Is toch nooit goed ;-) Fijne zondag!!

    Lieve groet, Madelief x

  10. Oh my goodness drought! We've have just entered into the dry season in this part of the world and I already badly long for rain. One can truly appreciate what rain gives life to in the absence of its precious sustenance. We used to have lilacs in Denmark and it was one of my absolute favorites - such a gorgeous scent!

  11. Gelukkig dat je nog en mooie foto hebt van die plant, ja dit jaar is bij ons ook erg droog maar ook toch weer een heel goed jaar voor de rozen en andere bloemen. Wat zal het in jullie tuin ook heerlijk ruiken,

    Liefs Janny

  12. I'm sorry you are going through a drought sweet Mariette! If I could send you some of our rain I truly would. The weather seems to be very disagreeable this year. Mother Nature seems to be all mixed up!! :(

Hope you are having a beautiful weekend!

  13. Hi Mariette,
Yes, here in our area we are having a drought too. Your white lilacs are beautiful. I know you must really miss them.
I am watering like crazy lately to not lose any precious blooms. The water meter is revolving around like a crazy clock. LOL I figure, either way we will be spending money to water or replace.

Love your gorgeous teacup and saucer.
Hope you have a wonderful week ahead sweet friend.
    Love from Texas, Celestina Marie

  14. Hi Mariette, I have been MIA for a few days. Lots of out of town guests and family in and out. Their visits are finished for the season. Too hot!
I wish we could grow lilacs here. My daughter in Nashville has beautiful lilacs. When she first moved there she trimmed what she thought was a nice hedge. The next year she didn't get around to trimming that hedge. Surprise, next year beautiful lilacs. She had grown up in Sav'h and had never seen lilacs growing.
We once saw the most beautiful lilacs on Mackinaw Island.
I am so sorry that you lost your beautiful lilac. It really hurts one's feelings to lose such a fantastic plant. So glad you have the pics. Hugs, Ginger
