{BOATLIFT: A Story of Civic Heroism}

Did any of you know about this story of civic heroism? We were in Germany on the day of 9/11 this year. This video got uploaded on September 7: BOATLIFT, An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience. I feel that I have to share, as the media never did bring this out. Tom Hanks narrates the epic story of the 9/11 boatlift that evacuated half a million people from the stricken piers and seawalls of Lower Manhattan. This evacuation in only 9 hours, was one of the largest and fastest in history- far fewer (300,000) were evacuated from Dunkirk, France during WWII.
Produced and directed by Eddie Rosenstein. Eyepop Productions, Inc.

  2. Hi Mariette, in these last dates of commemoration for the victims, heard and saw several TV specials where they saw many truly touching and heroic stories of people who gave everything of themselves to help others. I'm going to see these you have named. Ah! you know you had read your previous post where you talked about the clams and vaseline, but could not remember, and for use in mine, I'll try. I paint some stein pearl paint, they look gorgeous! Thanks for your visits, hugs. Rose Marie
