{Happy Thanksgiving - From Pilgrim to President}

Happy Thanksgiving to all American readers!
Hope it is a meaningful day, for you and your loved ones, reflecting on all the things we truly have to be thankful for. Some 400 years ago, life was not the way as we know it now... Therefore we should not take for granted what we have, our freedom and an abundance of food.
Thanksgiving Day: Pilgrims were a surprisingly worldly, tolerant lot
Pilgrims who braved the Mayflower were profoundly shaped by their 11 years in Leiden, Netherlands, where they arrived 402 years ago this year. 3. It is always a treat visiting your corner of BlogLand. Often we go about celebrating things without thinking of where it began and why we do it. This was a fabulous read!

    The pull within me for simplicity continues and learning why traditions and celebrations are, is enforcing my thoughts.

    Sending You, Pieter and your wonderful furbabies, much love and blessings for a wonderful Thanksgiving! xo HHL and Mr. G

  13. Wow, Mariette, this was so interesting! I am ashamed to say that I never knew the Pilgrims came from The Netherlands to the New World. I thought they came straight from England! See, one learns something new every day. Very interesting stuff. And I can't believe the George Bushes and President Obama are descendants too! Thanks for sharing with us!
    Best,
    Gloria
