{Our Ligustrum japonicum}

  • A very old fashioned type of shrub but still a great blossom in the spring I love to share here with you.

  • Their fragrance is quite strong too.

  • Added bonus is they are ever green! You can see however the new and tender 'spring' leaves that have been added to the ever green family...

  1. Hi Mariette, this is gorgeous. I love the green leaves next to the bright white. Stunning!! I bet your home is filled with a beautiful aroma. Do you bring some stems inside for a vase?

    Have a special evening.

  5. Hello Mariette, These very appealing flowers look more like a wildflower than a garden shrub, especially in the natural setting in which you show it, apparently bordering a woods.

  10. Dearest Mariett.

What a beautiful shrub but I have a feeling it would not survive our New England winters.

I'm still looking for the very fragrant mock orange my mother had.

    Enjoy the sun...........*s*

  11. Ein wundervolles Gewächs - und die Blüten sind
schön anzusehen. Schade, dass es noch kein Geruchs-
fernsehen gibt. Dann könnte ich auch noch den Duft
    geniesen.
    Liebe Grüße schickt

  13. Dear Mariette,
Ligustrum is here very common as a hege. It is a nice substitute for Buxus, which suffers now to the bux moth. I love the tiny blooms and the heavy scent. Thank you for sharing your spring.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  17. Lieve Mariette,

    Liefs,Ger

  18. Dearest Friends,
Thanks for all the comments! To Celestina Marie I can reply that usually we do not bring these into our home. This shrub is huge and stems to cut are also quite difficult to handle. Yes Jim, this shrub is planted on the border with our neighbor's wooded section.
The European Ligustrum I recall as a child, is a lot smaller in size and perfect for a hedge indeed.
Hugs to all of you and thanks for reading here!

  19. Dearest Mariette. This is indeed a lovely shrub with beautiful blossoms. Many grow as large as trees. I actually noticed some tree like specimens just today.
