- A very old fashioned type of shrub but still a great blossom in the spring I love to share here with you.
- Their fragrance is quite strong too.
- Added bonus is they are ever green! You can see however the new and tender 'spring' leaves that have been added to the ever green family...

Hello Mariette, These very appealing flowers look more like a wildflower than a garden shrub, especially in the natural setting in which you show it, apparently bordering a woods.
ReplyDeleteDat is zeker een struik van vroeger. Wij hadden deze ook thuis in de tuin als omheining en de bloemen die geuren heerlijk zoet.
ReplyDeleteIk wens je voor straks een fijne dag Mariëtte.
Lieve groet, Mea

Dearest Mariett.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shrub but I have a feeling it would not survive our New England winters.
I'm still looking for the very fragrant mock orange my mother had.
Enjoy the sun...........*s*
Ein wundervolles Gewächs - und die Blüten sind
ReplyDeleteschön anzusehen. Schade, dass es noch kein Geruchs-
fernsehen gibt. Dann könnte ich auch noch den Duft
geniesen.

ciao Mariette, ti auguro una bella settimana Lory
ReplyDeleteDear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteLigustrum is here very common as a hege. It is a nice substitute for Buxus, which suffers now to the bux moth. I love the tiny blooms and the heavy scent. Thank you for sharing your spring.
Best greetings, Johanna

ReplyDeleteDearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I could walk through your wonderful garden.
You have so many nice varieties of flowering trees, you are so lucky!
Thank you for sharing all those pretty flowers.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

Lieve Mariette,
Liefs,Ger
Dearest Friends,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments! To Celestina Marie I can reply that usually we do not bring these into our home. This shrub is huge and stems to cut are also quite difficult to handle. Yes Jim, this shrub is planted on the border with our neighbor's wooded section.
The European Ligustrum I recall as a child, is a lot smaller in size and perfect for a hedge indeed.
Hugs to all of you and thanks for reading here!
Mariette
Dearest Mariette. This is indeed a lovely shrub with beautiful blossoms. Many grow as large as trees. I actually noticed some tree like specimens just today.
ReplyDeleteLove to your, Ginger
Truly beautiful. I love the cluster of white flowers.
ReplyDeleteA real asset is an evergreen shrub that flowers in Spring!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and being fragrant is a bonus - what a good choice.
Hugs
