{Bay Window Patio with Potted Herbs}

We have been steadily adding potted plants and I also did order some special herbs such as Mentha piperita citrata, Lemon Grass, Spanish Thyme which also is called Cuban Oregano.
This mint is supposed to be the one that fine restaurants use to decorate their desserts...
Here the patio is still empty but I love this photo because of the special light through the dogwood branches...
A nice place for hummingbirds to come to one of the feeders which is visible from our kitchen bay window.
The top photo was taken after 5:00 PM and the one below after 1:00 PM and the light is always changing!
Together with our Fiberglass Window Boxes from Flower Framers of Cincinnati, it is a nice addition to the Bay Window Patio.
Lemon grass is standing tall already in its pot to the left.
Hope everything will grow well and that we can use it this season or next...
Do you also grow some herbs?

You certainly are right about that; we all need our herbs for cooking! Thank you about the window, that is our favorite spot of the house. The sun is there early morning for breakfast and that makes one happy to start the day!

Potted herbs are always very fun to watch as they grow and exciting to start using.
We too never had success with growing catmint for consumption by any of our felines. Don't know why; maybe their daily diet does not call for any...?
Hope your week went well so far. Today we drove back and forth to Atlanta for our shopping; first trip since early June. Also got a new battery for my silver guilder watch at Womble watch on Delk Rd. in Marietta... Just a bit of traffic jam when we left from Costco home by 2:30 PM but we got here in time for our 6 babies to feed them. They always welcome us on the driveway.
      Hugs,

How nice to grow herbs in these lovely pots on your patio!! We do grow lots of herbs and thanks to the mediterranean climate we have them in the garden, all year round, and enjoy them in cooking and we also dry most of them for tea.

This is one of our most favorite sides of the home as we can watch birds from here, the hummingbirds come very close to the window on that feeder. Also the acrobatic squirrels as they finish off the sunflower seeds every day... And sometimes we get to watch a chipmunk! Oh, your climate will be so much more rewarding for all your herbs but at least we do give it a try, small scale!
      Hugs to you,
      Mariette

  12. Such a pretty window, Mariette, with a lovely patio filled with sweet herbs. You have selected some beautiful herbs and equally beautiful pots to grow them in! I also grow herbs in half whiskey barrels and some in pots on the deck. I love to walk by them and pinch a leaf just for the beautiful scent.
Hope you are staying cool! xo Hugs, Karen

    1. Dearest Karen,
Thank you and we do enjoy our patio very much. The use for it is endless and these potted herbs are a great way for enjoying some fresh home grown herbs. Oh, your environment is so much better for any herb, plant or flower than ours and half whiskey barrels seem to be a great way to grow them in. Containing them a bit and also giving them their own special soil for thriving well. We love our Rosemary, however we have to dig up ours after it grew for more than 20 years, now it is not looking full enough anymore. But I could pinch year round scented sprigs off for adding to table decorations with flowers...
Today was not bad at all but we were in Atlanta and that is more north and somewhat cooler than our area.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  16. Lieve Mariette,

      Liefs,
      Mariette
