{Hoya Carnosa Nectar for Hummingbirds}

After a post about limiting sugar in our daily diet, another post about the yummy Nectar for our Hummingbirds from the Hoya Carnosa blossoms.
We do keep our Hoya Carnosa - Wax Plant, in the gazebo during spring, summer and autumn.
Easily accessible for our Hummingbirds to enjoy its yummy nectar!
Husband Pieter captured this great photo!
A hummingbird has to consume about twice its body weight every day!
Just imagine if we would have such a high metabolism...

those Flowers are wonderful! I love them too, my Mum has one in the house ...the problem is the extreme scent, making me headache ... but outside for hummingbirds, wonderful!

Oh, all those fragrant flowers never bother me. To some people they can be stupifying. Glad your Mom has one and she will enjoy it indoors as we did before. But once seeing a hummingbird hovering in front of the window trying to get to the plant, showed us we ought to give it to them! Perfect inside the gazebo!
      Hugs and love to you,
      Mariette

Of all birds, the hummingbirds are so active and so beautiful. We enjoy watching them from our bay window. We have lots of feeders out for them and of course real flowers for added pollen and nectar.

  11. Those hummingbirds are very lucky to get to enjoy sweet nectar :-) I can understand they need to consume so much based on how they fly around! The photo by your husband Pieter is beautiful. Such lovely close-up shot!

    Have a wonderful week, Mariette!

    1. Dearest Tamago,
Indeed, hummingbirds are so hyper, they need to consume a lot for keeping up. They are lucky on our property as we got lots of pollen and also sweet nectar for them, aside from several feeders.
Enjoy the remainder of the week and sending you hugs.

We try to keep our flowers alive by caring for them, mainly in winter in the greenhouse. Such a joy for the hummingbirds!

    1. Dearest Kay,
Maybe when they are hanging above ground it helps for not attracting ants. Ours so far are free of ants. We got lots of other fragrant flowers that attract ants...

Einfach via About und dann meine YouTube uploads. Ich habe sie auch hier im Blog grade eingestellt.
      Liebe Grüsse,
      Mariette

Der Duft von diese Hoya carnosa ist nicht zu stark aber wenn man es nicht ertragen kann ist es schade.

Thank you and later in September when it is less hot and we are more caught up with garden work, we will place the camera on its tripod and try to capture some hummingbirds!
As you know, such photos take lots of time!
Hugs and hope your trip went well.
