{Our Staghorn Fern - Platycerium Bifurcatum Back Outside}

Our baby Staghorn Fern - Platycerium Bifurcatum is back outside in the garden! We brought it back from dear friend Natacha in Miami, last year June.
Looking happy after its overwintering time in the green house.
Photo got taken on May 19.
From the link below you can see how Pieter had the tree cutters slice off a part of this trunk where it is tied to.
One day it might become too big for bringing back and forth to the greenhouse...
But till then, we enjoy it!

Well, in our climate it is happy during the spring, summer and autumn and than we have to place it inside the greenhouse! My friend in Miami can keep hers out year long...

  4. Hello Mariette, I see these in Taiwan, often growing dramatically from the steep sides of walls or ravines. I love their primitive look. Yours appear quite healthy and well-shaped.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Sure, in Taiwan they will thrive in that climate. They look like a very ancient plant that has been around a long time. With ours staying inside the greenhouse, we can keep it happy!

  10. Very interesting. How do you get it off the tree to be able to take it back and forth?

    1. Dearest Tammy,
Well if you click on the link below the blog, you can see how the professional tree cutters actually cut that trunk in a diagonal slice. That's what can be taken off during winter time and binding it back on in the spring.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
