You are quite right, Mariette, that we should cherish the word "Love" but this also means that we should revert to restoring its use to something meaningful. Nowadays people are just as likely to say that they love their new phone as they are to say they love their wife. We really do have to stop "loving" every trivial event in our lives. Love is important. Let's not bring it down to the level of a sandwich. Someone said to me last week about a new eatery here: "I just love their focaccia sandwich." I might really like it, I might really enjoy it, I might find it the best in town - but I love my wife and my family, not my sandwich.
