{Bergdorf Goodman 5th Ave New York City}

Both of us did shop on January 7, 1989 at Bergdorf Goodman when they had their winter sale.
Having studied fashion, this luxe department store is a dream!
Even if you don't shop, still a joy to browse around.
So I loved to be back on August 28, 2015.
Photo is taken from the bus... hence the reflection.
Using the New York Public Library Digital Collection (see link below post) we can see the Streetview, Then and Now in 1911 and in 2015.
Then and Now: Remnants of the Vanderbilt Mansion in New York City as seen in the  top photo.
Today the original Cornelius Vanderbilt II mansion is the department store Bergdorf Goodman.

What I still do buy from Bergdorf Goodman on line though, is items like lip gloss, nail polish and such.
Since they only have ONE store in New York City, it means you are not paying any tax for outside of state.

Have you ever shopped at Bergdorf Goodman New York City, or browsed around?

Thanks for your visit!

  1. Oh sweet friend, I used to love this gorgeous, elegant and classy store when I lived in the great NYC !
I used to work in fashion, I was a 'Fashion Coordinator' at TAPEMEASURE Co. at 61 and 3rd. Ave.
They used to make almost custom made cloths, very expensive of course to very rich women of Manhattan and we were fashion coordinators to our very own customers, but that's another show, lol..
But what I really wanted to say was that I used to adore shopping at BG for myself.
Thanks for sharing this post with us.
    Love,
    FABBY

  10. Dearest Mariette,
Ah memories! I used to shop at Bergdorf when I lived in New York back in the mid-sixties. That seems an age ago now! I will admit that I used to look more than buy, then go home and make something similar.
There are some lovely old buildings in New York.
    Have a good week.....*s*
