WISHING ALL READERS A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
On that memorable sightseeing tour with Graham H. Boonzaaier, Sunday, November 24 of 1985, we also went to Rhodes Memorial on Devil's Peak, Western Cape for a stunning panoramic view!
Beautiful statue of Cecil John Rhodes on his horse.
Built after a Greek temple.
We did see Groote Schuur where the world's 1st heart transplant got done in 1967 (see mention in previous post below) and from there to Rhodes Memorial.

Beautiful view from Rhodes Memorial. Pieter is seated on the stone edging and Mr. Graham H. Boonzaaier to the right with his wife Patricia.
Great views from up high on Devil's Peak with the ocean to the left, above those trees but photo is too hazy...

Hi Mariette. The view from Rhodes Memorial is stunning! I love the stone pavement and edging there.
ReplyDeleteIt’s getting quite cold. Stay warm and safe! xo
Dear Mariette - I missed out on seeing the Rhodes Memorial which looks stunning. We went to the top of Table Mountain which also has very spectacular views.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and Peiter a very happy and also healthy 2018 - thank you for letting me know how well Peiter is doing.
Then you had a wonderful journey! Memorials is awesome. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHello Mariette, That Rhodes Memorial is an amazing building, with its Greek temple design and those lions! However, Rhodes no longer is on the admired role model list, and people are attempting to dismantle his various honors--I hope this building survives OK.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Happy 2018!

ReplyDeleteAllereerst wil ik je alle geluk en gezondheid toewensen voor 2018!!
Wat een prachtige beelden. Lijkt me echt fantastisch om het leven daar zo eens mee te maken.
Groetjes, Marco
What an impressive monument. Isn't it fun to look back at our travels. I don't think we realized then how young we looked.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Mariette ...may your new year be filled with happiness and good health. JAney
Seeing all your photos is about as close as I will ever get to South Africa. :) My mom and brother are in Mississippi and say that it's colder than usual there, plus they had 6 inches of snow about a month ago which is also out of the ordinary. Warm wishes! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteDearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and Pieter and hope 2018 will be a wonderful year for you both.
Wishing you good health, especially Pieters recovery and happiness,
Sending love and hugs
Carolyn
Such a beautiful tour, dear Mariette. I am fascinated with the amazing countryside - with mountains and sea. Hugs xo Karen
