Our Mushroom Consulting in Connecticut, While Staying at the Spa at Norwich Inn

In my two previous posts, you can find links below this one, I've shown photos of both of us taken at The Spa of Norwich Inn where we resided while doing our consulting work.
This was in April of 1997, one of several times we came to Franklin for consulting work at Franklin Farms, Connecticut.
My sweatshirt shows their logo.
Yep, that's where we ended up several times with our rental car, arriving from Hartford, CT airport.
Franklin Organic Mushroom Farm, just off Route 32 in Franklin, CT.
Yes, this was a tray farm, using wooden trays that got stacked up.
Sadly they faced a fierce business competition against the newly built Mohegan Sun's Casino of the Earth.
Working there, in a more pleasant environment, drained most of their pool of employees...
So, sadly they had to close this farm and the property got sold.
Fond memories of that period.
We did enjoy dining with our boss and his wife at the Mohegan Sun's and other locations.
Also we both flew in on a Saturday, as the 'Saturday stay' made it a lot cheaper for the company, for two tickets at a discounted rate.
Sunday was for us to explore the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, New York.

Good for our readers to see a different mushroom growing system!

Thanks for your visit and comment.

  3. Hello Mariette, I really miss Connecticut, and am glad that you and Pieter got a chance to work there. I can only imagine the developments that replaced that beautiful farm. If I move back to the U.S., I would seriously consider Connecticut. Milder winters and incredible scenery and old buildings!

Yes, it was very sad indeed but who can compete against something like that?!
This was indeed another way of growing them.

      Abrazos,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Sami,
It is very sad when such labor intensive businesses close. Although it was not a factory but a production facility for mushrooms from making the substrate to shipping out.
      Hugs,
