And NOW the LONG ride back home from South Florida

Well, the 10th day has started and we both decided to have breakfast early and hit the road.
It would be a long ride ahead but still with perfect weather!

Yep, 937 km or 582 mi and I did them in 8 hours and 16 minutes.
Of course we opted for the Turnpike = Toll Road and it was such a smooth ride all the way.

This was one of the two times that I stopped for gas...
There are convenient Service Plazas along the Turnpike which are accessible from both sides as they're in the center.
Pieter was wearing his comfy ribcord Zegna jeans from Last Call Neiman Marcus from a previous trip.

On my 1:46 minute Relive video you can see where this got taken, shortly after our 2nd gas stop.
We also stopped at a Rest Area for enjoying our lunch from Whole Foods Market in Davie with some fresh fruits and a little rest.

    1. Dearest Victor,
This only could be done due to full speed on the Turnpike and Interstate.
Did not want to take any other roads as it would slow us down...

That was indeed a long distance drive but perfect traffic and weather.

  4. A long trip, for sure, Mariette. How were the gas prices?

But far better than breaking it up into another day.
Gas prices nation wide are high but the value of friendship is higher.

You think so? Going home seems always to be shorter.

  6. A very long trip indeed, Mariette.

But I don't mind if it's in a foreign country - there's so much to see that's different than your home country!

    Happy Monday, my dear friend!

    1. Dearest Veronica,
The United States of America is a vast country and from State to State it is quite a distance. Especially all the way to the South of Florida, from our State.
Driving is not so much for sight seeing, especially after all those years for having been there but it is purely for getting to your destination and back.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  7. I love care trips. We just returned from central Texas. …and we too were disturbed by the gas prices!

    1. Dearest Janey,
You too are quite daring for taking long road trips and it is in a way the most relaxed option.
Yes, today my Pieter when returning from the dentist he gassed up and was quite shocked how much it went up! This is by far not the end of it...

  8. It's still a long way off. If I did how many kilometers in one day, I would arrive full of bone pain.

    1. Dearest Christina,
Yes it was a long way to go but the seats in our Infinti QX50, a compact luxury crossover SUV, fit perfectly and I got inflatable lumbar support.
