Some Escada Jeans that I Scored

Often for my European size 34 or American size 4, I really score big time!
Otherwise very expensive Escada jeans I managed to get for 4 pieces only for $ 121.00
One of the 4 Escada jeans I'm wearing here with my Escada silk blouse and Escada patent leather sandals.
The one I'm wearing here is a black one with a subtle gold stripe woven through.
Usually Escada jeans sell around US $ 425.00 so my 4 NEW ones were quite a score!
Yep, got these new with tag jeans for US $ 28.00!
The above label is from a size 36 or 6—depending on all cotton or with a little bit of stretch...
Happy with the perfect weather for getting to wear this.
The buttons on this blouse are like jewels...
Here you get to see them a little bit better and also the subtle stripe in my jeans.
This is the gray Escada jeans—one of the four... wearing it with my own sewing creation; silk vest.
Above all, those new jeans all had 32 inch inseam; which I need for my long legs.

When we arrived here in Georgia in 1983, I fell in love with some Jordache jeans!
Trying them on, I almost cried as they were shaped for women with saddle bags and I have nothing 'padded' on my hips and they were all like high water for me—too short!
Escada originally was Germany based, no longer as the founder, Margaretha Ley no longer is alive.
But it fits me like a second skin...

The leather coat I wear with the jeans is also Escada and another score.
Not bad for snatching that one up for about ⅙ of the original price...๐Ÿ˜‰
Lovely buttons and all silk lined.

  5. Hi, Mariette and Pieter!
WOW! How do you do that? Love your outfits, as usual and of course, following my blog mother footsteps, I had to go search and learn the history of Escada. I NEVER would have guessed it was a german based brand.
I read their site and they say that Margaretha had "an exquisite feel for colors, a devotion to detail, and a sure sense for what many women desired – a feminine elegance that doesn't shy away from bright contrasts and striking elements. Bold color combinations, opulent embroideries, combinations of patterns, and leopard prints endowed ESCADA's early creations with a touch of irrepressible joie de vivre." I love elegant clothes, but especially elegant attitudes, because one must be elegant on the inside, before worrying with the outside, I think. I'm glad you are both! :)
Oh, and before I forget, I discovered this week that the Outlet we have been going for YEARS has an Escada store! How have I missed it?!
    :)

    1. Dearest Paula,
      How do you do that?...
Well, having size 34 or size 4 in the USA, you single yourself out from the masses. So more and more I'm very lucky as there are very few that will fit into that as the population has become more and more obese... My luck and especially my wallet's luck!
Well, about Escada and probably WHY it is near you in Portugal, that has a very special reason. Had to look on my files and thank goodness I found it right away:
Wolfgang Ley met his future wife Margaretha while skiing in St. Moritz, and they immediately fell in love. Attending a horse race together in Portugal, they bet a bundle on a horse named Escada, which means "staircase" in Portuguese. The horse won big, and with their newfound winnings they began a beautiful marriage, as well as a company called Escada. Founded in 1976, in Germany, Escada has now grown into one of the biggest fashion and fragrance houses in the world.

Escada is the perfect resource for the modern woman's dynamic lifestyle. Ultra-feminine silhouettes combined with luxurious fabrics create looks that are both elegant and glamorous. Escada is world-renown for colorful classics, beautifully constructed suits, and high-wattage evening gowns.

Pieter and I have walked near the weekend property from Wolfgang Ley, in the Eiffel in Germany. But Margaretha died and in November of 2009 the original German Escada AG company ended and is now in the hands of the Indian daughter–in–Law of steel magnate in London. http://www.hauteliving.com/2009/11/daughter-in-law-of-lakshmi-mittal-new-owner-of-escada/

The description as to who is Megha in the pictures is way OFF—but you easily can spot her.
So that might be a surprise to you about its beginnings in 1976.
      Margaretha was Swedish born...https://us.escada.com/pages/about-escada

  6. You are a well of knowledge! I always associated ESCADA to Spain, maybe because I had no idea previous to searching for their history and you talking about it, about the origin of its founders.
Escada is also staircase in spanish, but I'm happy to know that Portugal had something to do with such a wonderful brand! :)
Reading those links you sent me, I was sad to know that the group filed bankruptcy in August of 2009 and that the attempt of Sven Ley, the son of the founder of Escada to buy it, failed. It's always better when a business continues in the family...
Let's hope Escada continues to be a glamorous brand as it once was.
    Hugs to you and Pieter!
    :)

    1. Dearest Paula,
Yes, it had a rather sad ending after Margaretha's death... One would want it to stay within the family of course!
Hugs back to you and Nuno!

  8. Dearest Mariette,

I loooooove your blouse and jeans!! I especially loooooove that blouse!! You look so lovely and elegant as you wear them so well. But really, you look good in anything, my friend! I, too, have to buy long length jeans, but they sure are hard to find in our area. Plus, I do not like the low-waist jeans... ugh. I need high-waisted or it will fall off me. Ha! Have a lovely and blessed week, dear friend! Hugs!
