Wishing you ALL a MEANINGFUL 3rd Advent Week

As time is passing quite fast—may I wish you worldwide:
 a MEANINGFUL 3rd Advent Week!

This is a time for burning our fire place and for lighting candles—our huge pillar candle from our 25th Wedding anniversary is also visible.
To the left you see a typical Austrian or Italian Tyrol region nosegay made out of spices and tiny cones—called Gewürtzsträusschen.
I tied raffia around my gilded magnolia grandiflora leaves with some Nandina (heavenly bamboo) berries...
A perfumed pillar candle with some holly and real cranberries on the green Hardanger table topper.
My red Hardanger tablecloth with the beautiful table runner—done in Portuguese Guimarães white work.
We bought this in Coimbra, Portugal during our 19–day trip by bus from Limburg/The Netherlands to Spain and Portugal in September, 1994.
On eBay I once got a hold of this Baccarat Crystal Vesuve / Vesuvius Caviar Server (2 pcs) because the inset was missing—it was a bargain...
Perfect for filling up with cranberries and floating candles!

  4. Hi, Mariette!
Those collors and arrangments are BEAUTIFUL! *.*
For me, green, red, white, silver and gold are the colors that simbolize Christmas, so I love every detail.
And the notes of wood that the candle and the nosegay bring out, together with the fireplace... pure bliss!
Also, I couldn't pass that table runner, beautifully made in my home country! ;)
Lots of hugs to you and Pieter!

    1. Dearest Paula,
Yes, those are exactly the colors that both of us love so much for Christmas.
Just a coincidence that yesterday when you asked when we were in Portugal, you got the info about Coimbra where w bought this table runner and the most precious big table cloth for our dining room.
You can see that here in one of our donated High Tea events: https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2021/11/high-tea-in-november.html
      Hugs to you and Nuno,
      Pieter & Mariette

    2. There are no coincidences! ;)
You and Pieter are very elegant (as always) and those tables made my mouth water. And although I didn't understand what you and Pieter were saying, I understood the words bonbons and chocolate! :)
Everything was so elegantly displayed and the little cards with the names of the different kinds of sweets, the tray with the tall glasses, the flowers... LOVE!
The table cloth is beautiful and another example of the exquisite embroideries that are made in Portugal.
Lots of hugs to you both!
      :)

    3. Dearest Paula,
Guess the beautiful Portuguese Guimarães white work is second to none in the entire world!
We both admired it very much and had to take it home with us.
Those High Tea preparations was a lot of work but done with love for a good cause to raise funds for our local Rotary Club.
Hugs to both of you from both of us!

The Madeira embroideries are also world famous and so incredibly beautiful.
Artful ladies that can make those!
