MOST PRECIOUS GIFT OF LOVE for both of us—MOM'S REQUIEM on VIDEO One Hour Later

Not being able to be present at the funeral of Mom due to Pieter having had another heart attack and I myself having still therapy for my left hand—felt devastating.
But my BEST Friend Ellie went to the funeral with her daughter Elvira (our Goddaughter) and Elvira's husband had asked his boss permission for using the professional video camera—so he could capture Mom's Solemn Gregorian Requiem Mass

No words can describe what this meant to both of us for being able to watch it on my Mac just over an hour later...
Below this video on YouTube you find clickable links with explanation in English and way below also in Dutch.
Dad did select the special Kyrie Eleison deliberately as Mom sang it as a 1st soprano with the elderly choir for more than 25 years and for some 18 years with Dad together in the same choir.
~
Both of us were in The Netherlands on October 11, 1997 and went to Mass where Mom & Dad for the FIRST time ever—sang together in the elderly choir. Quite a historical fact.

  1. Mariette, I can only imagine how devastating that would have been, as you wrote. I'm at least "glad" that you were able to watch the video a short time later. I imagine your mom was with you in spirit as you did. ♥

  4. I'm sorry you weren't able to go to your Mom's service. But you had special friends come through for you and was able to view it. That was so thoughtful and kind of them. That is lovely that your Mom and Dad sang in the elderly choir together.

Wishing you blessed February days, Mariette.

  9. Hello Mariette and Pieter, You both were so lucky to have such fine parents, family and friends, so that it is a privilege to honor those who pass on with such meaningful services like this one for Mariette's remarkable mother. I have a perfect image of her cheerful face in my mind whenever you mention her, or if I think of her for other reasons.

  11. It certainly was painful for you and I believe that the images obtained by the camera somehow helped you to overcome it. And I believe that your faith in God helped you a lot.

  12. Dear Mariette,
I can imagine how deeply broken down you must have been not to be physically present at the funeral of your Mom. But I can assure you that God listens to prayers said in silence or spoken, prayers said far away or near and your mom was such a devout Christian woman and we can rightly say of her that; She fought a good fight, she ran the race to the finish, she kept the Faith! May God the Just Judge, Crown her with the Glory of Heaven. Amen!

    1. Dearest J.S.,
It was very hard not to be there, also the weeks prior to her passing but I stayed up at night for making meaningful phone calls and preparing her for finally meeting her first born—my Angel sister that was still born and got taken away without Mom letting her hold nor cuddle...
Mom kept the Faith through whatever and she no doubt made it to Heaven—well deserved.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
