Our Stay at Trianon Palace Hotel Versailles and Visiting Château Versailles, France

We woke up feeling like new after such an adventurous French wine drinking day before...
It is Saturday, June 11, 1983 but we still had to visit another business friend.
By 10:00 we arrived in Vendôme at the Claron Mushroom Spawn Company where Monsieur Rozenzweig would give us a great tour.
Next we leave for the Trianon Palace Hotel Versailles adjacent to the Château Versailles.
Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Hotel Versailles click through for info
From our hotel we just walk to Château Versailles... it is adjacent!
My 3rd visit, once with my late 1st husband and once with Mom & Dad, see below post for link.
Interesting to see such tiny cars!
One never gets enough from Château Versailles...
Pieter with Neptune in front of Château Versailles
After dinner we did go back to walk in Versailles Garden...
LOVE the Orangerie...
Me in the Garden in the evening, we could not get enough of it!

Next day we drove back to The Netherlands...
All in all it was a fun trip with fond memories forever.

  1. Hello Mariette, How lucky to visit Versailles several times--although I guess that part of the time you weren't too far away! I have always wanted to go to France, and I am hoping it will be my next "big trip" although England is perpetually a powerful draw.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Yes, we have been very lucky and with only some five hours driving distance from where we lived, this was within reach!
England has so much architecture and beautiful gardens; I would give both a good rating.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

      Liefs,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Janey,
Well, at the time we stayed at the Trianon Palace Hotel it was not yet under the Waldorf Astoria group but it had ****.
This was convenient and June for garden walks are perfect.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Yes it sure is and both of us never can stay too long inside a building, the outdoors pulls HARD!

  7. Great photos from your visit to Versailles! I love how well your and your husband Pieter’s outfits are color coordinated (though I assume it wasn’t intended to be so) :-)
I’ve been there twice long time ago but both visits were in cold winter. So the garden was not green. I hope I can visit there in warmer time of the year some day!

Have a wonderful new week, Mariette xo

    1. Dearest Tamago,
Thank you and about our outfits, over the years we often have been called the twins as somehow I've always tried to match part of Pieter's with mine. Even with a matching silk tie at times...
When visiting in the winter, all those wooden crates from the Orangerie are stored indoors...
For June weather, we were so lucky with the garden visits!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  10. Dear Mariette - like you I also love visiting Versailles along with its splendid gardens. I too have visited it several times - my eldest son and his family lived in Paris for 10 years.

    1. Dearest Rosemary,
Every spring I could walk there and enjoy the gardens! The architecture in general is also a feast for the eye.
Having your eldest son living in Paris was a convenient base for visiting Versailles.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
