EXCELLENT WAY for spreading germs and what not AT A HOSPITAL!

For our work, we always had to emphasize that strict HYGIENE is a must for avoiding the spread of all kind of diseases.
And I am talking about the mushroom business!
It ought to be treated like a hospital because we also can be dealing with a virus outbreak; called die-back.
Virus particles easily can attach themselves to spores.

Long hair has to be pulled back.
No long fingernails.
No baggy tops, but tucked in.
No wide/long clothes (skirts, dresses or very baggy pants) sweeping the surface and contaminating other areas with diseases.
We have seen hundred or even thousand times personnel at a hospital, clinic or doctor's office with TOO LONG PANTS.
Sure, most young(er) generations would not know how to decently hem up their pants.
But aside from doing it yourself or having it done, WHY is management not mentioning this?!
THINK about it, an entire workday sweeping up things from the floor, wherever they go.
And mind you, they WILL go a few times to the TOILET as well, using their PANTS like a nice 'dry' mopping rag.
Spreading germs and virus particles, attached to dust or water particles, all around and even taking them HOME.

Have you also noticed this in the medical world?

Certamente, la gestione dovrebbe essere molto severa in questo aspetto!

At times we think we're sliding back in time, where strict hygiene did not 'yet' matter... I've never read anyone mentioning this.

  3. Hello Mariette, Another good argument for young people, both male and female, learning basic skills such as sewing or making at least a temporary fix. I can sew on a button in an emergency, but that's about it. However, last night I was proud of myself. I have a quilt that was starting to come open at the seam. After some procrastination, I finally did the job. It turns out that I chose the wrong color and type of thread, and the stitches look like Dr. Frankenstein did them, but the job is done!

    1. Dearest Jim,
Oh, young people ought to be taught about this at schools!
We had once an exchange student stay with us (Rotaract) and he too went with us to Florida, with the adopted daughter from Pieter's brother. She had her bathing suit burst open in a seam and he went to the room with her for handing her needle and thread. I told him not to mend it for her; she had to try herself.
That was the best example and that of the son of my best friend in Germany. He proudly showed his jean shorts that he'd cut off and hemmed by machine from his regular jeans. He proudly told me, Mama has no daughters but she taught me.
You too can be proud of yourself for doing it!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  4. Sure doesn't seem very hygienic at all. I would never choose to wear pants that drag the ground anywhere, anytime especially since I live in a very dirty and dusty country. :/

  5. Ugh, that's something I've never thought of, frankly. However, I've seen mall food kiosk staff in the washroom finish their business and either not wash their hands at all or just rinse them under plain water. Disgusting. No wonder we can't get ahead of the current pandemic, when people can't even practice basic hygiene.

We've seen this sweeping of the floor for years... There are numerous hygiene issues that need to be stressed more firmly.

Bell bottoms are not per definition a problem; provided they don't drag over the floor...😉
The issue is the correct length!
Hygiene works for all kind of diseases, for keeping them at bay.

  9. Your post is a reminder of how easily disease spreads, in ways we don’t often consider! In the County my son and I live in, our Covid numbers are off the chart. We had been doing amazingly well … Omicron is a different breed. Stay well, you two!

  10. My sweet friend, Mariette -- I've seen medical personnel doing this for decades... even by older adults who should know better. And besides all you stated, it looks tacky and unprofessional. It seems people nowadays (mostly the younger ones as you said) just can't be bothered with simple hygiene. That's why I hate every time my husband has to be in the hospital (which is nearly yearly). You go to the hospital to get well but then you face the fact there are more germies there! Yuck. Hugs to you, my friend!

Yes, it is a very sad fact as you also observed.
Being in the hospital is always a big risk as it is a place were all sorts of micro organism can accumulate. Often resulting in a fountain of infection.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  11. Completely agree! Good practices are super important even more when it comes to health. There are things that I don't even do in my kitchen, imagine in a hospital environment.

Exactly, one uses common sense and as you mention not even in our own kitchen, let alone in any medical environment.
