Review Quotation: Pieter J.C. Vedder; One of the Best Teachers in Mushroom Growing in the World

It is quite special for hearing your boss brag about you at a Conference!
Not just any Conference, but at the 7th North American Mushroom Conference,
March 8, 1988, in New Orleans
Review Quotation: Pieter J.C. Vedder; One of the Best Teachers in Mushroom Growing click below, for hearing those words, spoken by Pieter's boss, on video.
Short clip...
Don't forget to click on 'CC' for seeing English caption...
RIGHT ON TARGET
with a beautiful stylized mushroom...
Just some of Dr. Miller's talk in text...
Followed by the top image.
Pieter mentioned, Dr. Miller should have phrased it better, for not growing mushrooms on aluminium racks but instead they grow ON COMPOST! It is the people of course, that make a good substrate (compost) or not...
On the 1st day of the Conference, husband Pieter was a speaker for the 2nd session.
The next day, during the 9th session, Dr. Robert Miller was the speaker about a Large Size Farm. Where I marked ON VIDEO VOICE in red.
That large farm was Campbell Soup's Mushroom Division

A treasure for having these spoken words!

Used them for the Indie Publishing of our new book: modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting as one of its Editorial Reviews. Amazon is listing full information! Others might omit it...

  1. Hello! I have said this before but it bears repeating ... the written story of your lives is such an important way of preserving the history. Stay well, dear friend.

    1. Dearest Helen,
Thank you and it is a joy for doing so in a timely manner, when both of us are still alive. Pieter has been a true pioneer and he sure created some mushroom related history! Sure am proud of him.

    1. Dearest Travis,
We both didn't even know about this Telluride Mushroom Festival that is already since 1981. But no doubt this is related to the Wild Mushrooms and we are only involved in commercial/industrial mushroom growing. Thanks for educating us! Too bad Colorado is that far away and the festival is over now...
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  3. Hello Mariette, After seeing many articles about Pieter's expertise, I notice that what sets him apart is that Pieter sees mushroom culture holistically, not just one aspect at a time, as for instance the right fertilizer or the correct type tray. Everything works as a system, and controlling all are the workers and managers, themselves an integral part of it.

    1. Dearest Jim,
You are a keen observer and indeed Pieter does cover it from A till Z. There are several scientists that are expert in just a small part of the entire process.
Guess, Pieter's book is the only one available which covers it all.
Pieter is just preparing another article about the importance of the people that make a farm successful; which means training and more training.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Claudia,
Guess not many do have such an audible acknowledgment from their boss of their excellent performance. Most are 'self-proclaimed' and lack any editorial review or whatsoever.
      We both treasure this!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Thank you and it also is very rare that husband and wife worked together in the same field. That has made me uniquely involved as well and I am proud of my best teacher ever.

That is a coincidence, you comment at the very same time as I did on your post...
Thank you and yes, being a true educator is about carrying out a message to others that will last a lifetime and which will give them a better understanding and ability for making a meaningful living.
