{Our Felines - Sweet Spooky I...}

One morning in February, a skinny black kitten walked up to Pieter in our wood garden. He picked her up and came into the house to show her to me. She was so hungry and so skinny, with a scar over her nose... must have been in a fight. Who in the world would put such a tiny kitten out to fend for itself? The rest is history... we took her in and loved her to death.
You see the scar above her nose?
Silencing Snuffy the rabbit...
Spooky would nap with Snuffy...
Guess, she wanted a play-mate...
We got her spayed and she had all her medical check-ups; she was very healthy.
Until one day, when a car came racing down the hill, going way too fast...
Spooky got killed in front of Pieter's eyes! The driver never stopped. Pieter rushed up the stairs to tell me that our Spooky had been hit by a car. I did fly down the stairs and when I picked her up, her head hung... She was killed instantly, though no visible wounds... Only one-and-a-half years old. She was so playful and happy. That hurts!
Spooky I was so loved...
We did replace her with Spooky II
Tomorrow you can read the sequel about Spooky I and II

  1. Oh my God, how tragic! I am so sorry that this happened to poor little Spooky. But you gave her a good life for a year and a half, you know? She was adorable when she was little. And I feel badly for your husband seeing it happen. Again, how tragic.
    Best,
    Gloria

  3. Oh, what a story!!!

You two must think Spooky came back to you.
How lucky she is to be saved by warmhearted people like you two. I can see that she finally found the place to be peaceful.

I deeply thankful to you for your sweet comment. Love you a lot!!!
It is getting hot here, take care of yourselves.
    Hugs, Orchid

  5. Liebe Mariette,
    Irmi

  7. Oh my gosh Mariette, that is so sad! At least Spooky had a nice and loving home before that. My husband and I saw a show a while back about people who work for the humane society and it can be shocking sometimes to realize the things people do to animals...really makes you wonder!

Thank you so much for your visit to my blog and your wonderful comments:) You know all too well how my hubby was feeling. Between my husbands job and his brothers job time off is rare so it was a very special time for them and we all enjoyed it so much:)

    Have a wonderful Sunday!!

  8. Lieve Mariette,

    bea

  20. Mariette, I am so sorry you and Pieter had to experience such a loss. During that one and one half years the two of you and Spookie lived out God's great commission. You loved and took care of one of God's little creatures and in return you received the joy of unconditional love from Spookie. Ginger :)
Oh yes, I am glad there was a Spookie II.
