{Peacock Candles}

Finding some nice gifts for special people at times is challenging. For our friends from India we found some appropriate gifts since the Peacock has a very special meaning in their culture. Not only being it the national bird but also a symbol of grace, beauty, joy and love. Look what I found...

Fragrant candles... This photo is from September 4, taken outside on our balcony.
Loved those Peacocks.
The candle to the right is real wax but flameless and works on batteries.
The one to the left is a real fragrant candle inside this painted glass holder.

Backside of the painted glass holder. This was a treasure find at Last Call by +Neiman Marcus.

QVC had these Peacock candles and I just loved them!
Do you also look for special gifts year round?

  3. Dearest Mariette ... these are both beautiful and your friends are going to be delighted to receive them. You are always most thoughtful. The perfect gifts have always been ones that pop out when I'm not looking for a specific occasion ~ I Christmas, birthday, etc. shop all year. Wishing you a beautiful Sunday and blessed week ahead.

When I read about the title and saw the candle, I thought it would be pity these wonderful Peacock would be burnt. Wonderful design and sure this great bird has Asian taste♡♡♡
Choosing gifts is always hard for me(^^;) Take Care and wish you will have a wonderful new week!

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

Oh that certainly would be a pity to burn such lovely handpainted art work down to nothing. But this wax candle with its LED light on battery will last forever. The other glass container with painted peacock will burn donw but can always be filled again or another candle inserted and even as a vase it is stunning. These are very much lasting gifts. It is hard to find a meaningful gift that is appropriate for the person giving it to.
      Hugs and love,

  9. Lieve Mariette,

Here I am, at long last... back after a long blogging pause and a very busy few weeks! I missed your beautiful blog, and I hope to have more time now -- although I'm happy and thankful because I have some new lessons which I truly enjoy! :)
    These peacock candles are amazing!!!
Enjoy March, my friend! We have one day of sunshine and one (or more) days of rain here... but spring has definitely arrived in the woods, with lovely flowers in bloom, and especially my beloved 'primule'... the essence of spring here in Northern Italy.
    Big hugs to you!

Don't worry, these have been also the weeks that I was in Europe, for my Mom's 90th Birthday and my Parents' 65th Wedding Anniversary. You can read my post for Mom's 90th here: http://networkedblogs.com/TFDwm
While on dialysis on her birthday day, she got to read all the birthday wishes sent to her from all over the world and it made her so happy. Also on my FB she got many comments.
So I'm just back into our routine, got exhausted also from another project that I did for the US Embassy in Indonesia and GPDLI on behalf of World Leprosy Day... So glad I finally cauhgt up on sleep.
We had a very sad thing happening to our gorgeous Japanese Magnolias that we got to see for ONE day and than 2 nights of -5°C turned them all into ugly brown blobs... So sad!
Sending you hugs and love and enjoy the lovely primule for me too!

At first I thought it was real candles. Luckily you do not need to burn them down. It would in any case I never wanted to do. They are absolutely wonderful.

Oh, it would break my heart for burning something that beautiful down... This is great that it can be used over and over again without any loss of its artwork. Also the glass outside can be filled with a candle or with new wax and even used as a vase.
Whenever we find something special, yes we stow it away to give someone later.

The candles you bought for your friends are so lovely!!! How thoughtful of you ! I have a beautiful peacock motif which I have been wanting to decoupage for some time now, and I was thinking of applying it to a big candle!!!! Now I that saw yours, I will definitely do it!!
Thank you so much for your nice comment on my post. I am glad that your liked it! I have indeed been spoiled over the years with nice gifts and tulips by my Dutch friends of De Telegraaf but also of AD and other newspapers and magazines. They were wonderful people!

The magnolias will be back next year; I hope... We have not had them now since three years because of frost each year. Sad but one year they will be gorgeous again and we just need to take lots of photos then.
