One never knows how life is moving forward...
Pieter worked very hard on the Wood Trail, while I was in Limburg, solo.
Short 3 second movie with Kwekkie the white duck that befriended Pieter.
AND, Pieter got enamored; who would NOT?!
She worked almost side–by–side with him on the Wood Trail repair and replacement...
Observe her left foot here carefully as something dramatic happened to her while I was back home.
Kwekkie is a friendly white duck and she is especially fond of Pieter.
Pieter's hand, full with potting soil as he just has potted several plants.
Watch her left foot...
She obviously got attacked by a Snapping Turtle!
For several days she could not walk and Pieter had to bring her food + water.
She then went again inside the pond and it seems her foot did heal but those two webs between her toes will never be like before!
She seems to be happy though.
Zoomed in on her foot...
Our pond is her favorite area
Yes, she adopted Pieter and is getting used to me as well.
Kwekkie is beautiful! So sad about her foot.
ReplyDeleteGlad that she has found a friend in Pieter.
Hugs and blessings, my dear Mariette.
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteKwekkie is beautiful and she sure found a friend for life in Pieter and lots of food.
We take care of her so she remains healthy and strong!
Nature can be quite cruel...
Hugs,
Mariette
Abrazos,
Mariette
Awww, what a sweetie. I'm glad she had Pieter to bring her water and food, poor little thing. Now that you're home, she has two human caretakers. ♥
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteYes, critters in the wild often live a rough life when being pulled down by such a monster... But she healed and even with her maimed webs on one foot, she is happy it seems.
Hugs,
Mariette
OMG those snapping turtles can really live up to their name - such serious looking bits gone, poor Kwekkie. Thankfully Pieter was there to assist - and that you're not jealous of his new admirer!
ReplyDeleteHope she is doing well now, quack, quack!
Dearest Mary,
DeleteYes, this is the second time in over 20 years that we've seen such a damaged duck foot. Snapping turtles are not very sophisticated!
Indeed, poor Kwekkie but she found a loving and caring human to nurse her right back to strength. No, I'm not jealous we began to share his New love and Kwekkie now lets me come close and feed her.
Hugs,
Mariette
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYes, a great love–story of Kwekkie!
Hugs,
Mariette
My goodness, she is beautiful. With the exception of her foot, at first I thought she was a statue...such a sweet creature that has found a human friend. I like that!
ReplyDeleteDearest Debby,
DeleteShe sure is sweet and has found the human that managed to save her when needed help.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hello Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed your travels and all the photos. I have been unable to comment as my issues with google have magnified. Completely frustrating and hopefully that is all behind me now. Please don't think that I disappeared and you know me well enough to know that you could never hurt my feelings.
Welcome back to the States and looking forward to chatting with you soon. Hopefully you two kids are back on the bikes and enjoying the sights once again.
Sending Love And Positive Vibes,
Cheers
P.S. Thanx For Those Birthday Wishes!!!
Dearest Travis,
DeleteThank you and I'm glad you did enjoy reading about it.
Oh Google is screwing up big time it looks like—we all lost comments and more because of it.
We have not been on our bikes much yet, but you can check Strava and see what we have been doing. You will be surprised...
Hugs and all the very best and hoping that your new year of life has been good!

What a beautiful duck. A great new friend.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteYes, indeed a beauty and rather people–friendly!
Hugs,
Mariette
How lovely she is!!! Sorry about her foot! I did not know that turtles in a pond could be so agressive!!!! Surely, thanks to Pieter, she does not seem to suffer any more!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteWell, those snapping turtles have a mean face and are indeed aggressive and nasty.
Pieter took well care of her and she came to watch Pieter work on the wood trail; a sweet companion!
Hugs,
Mariette
That duck is a gentleman.
