On August 27, we got a Garden-BONUS of one bloom on our Night Blooming Cereus Epiphyllum oxypetalum. So one more time I snapped some photos around midnight. Such an orchid cactus is so rewarding and giving! But it takes years before they ever bloom. Enjoy this beauty below:
Midnight beauty and this single bloom was a huge one!
Enjoy my video below for seeing its progress.

Liebe Mariette,
Amazing! You have such beautiful flowers...Everything grow so beautifully in your house and garden because you handle it with such care and love! Hugs to you, Jagoda
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Mariette! The miracles of nature are so amazing. Enjoy your beautiful cactus - a true testament to the powers of your green thumb! Happy flower gazing. xx
ReplyDeleteAlways such a treat to see! Flower Lady in south Florida showed Epiphyllum phyllandthus in bloom last night on her blog. The difference in hers and ours is that E. oxypetalum has fragrance and the tepals have more color.
ReplyDeleteI think I've learned the trick to sooner bloom -- a bigger cutting to start. I gave away one that bloomed in just one year. It was a large piece that broke and I rooted the whole thing in one piece. Now I'm rooting every little piece, no matter how shabby. The ugly ones will root and kept in shade, green up.
