HOW we Hauled our Miele Appliance Home and Installed it

On November 7, 1998 we both drove in our Toyota RAV4 to Atlanta to pick up our Miele built–in wall cabinet hood, dishwasher and oven.
There was none available in our area but we were determined.
Both of us have been surrounded by German built Miele since our early life—so well known in Europe!
So, this protruding Kitchen Aid oven with too much black—will get replaced and also the noisy Whirlpool dishwasher + Whirlpool hood.
The old white combi fridge and freezer from Amana we still have in use in our pantry!
Here you see the oven and the dishwasher from the other side.
And still my hand crocheted rose curtains hanging in front of the windows.
Ceramic Chandelier from Italy... we still have that!
Here we just arrived home and I backed up to the veranda door entrance for easier unloading.
Well—easy... not so.
I had not seen, neither did Pieter, the handles that hung down for picking up the oven.
So I lifted it not by those special handles and cut my hand... bleeding.
Only next morning at breakfast we were both staring at them; argh!

Will be continued...

Have you hauled some appliance yourself?

    1. Dearest Victor,
We have always solved things our way—if not available in our area we went and GOT it ourselves.
      That cut did heal...
The result in the end was far better as what you called lovely kitchen 🤗
      Hugs,

  3. Oh, it's always a huge gym on top of that because in my house I have a bridge to the entrance to my house.

Divertido dicho por otro europeo, ¡porque aquí es una cocina compacta!
Pero íbamos a reemplazar algunas cosas, mejorar.
      Abrazos,

  5. Hi, Pieter and Mariette!
As I wrote in a comment before, it's funny that you are posting about the changes you made to your kitchen appliances, after a few weeks of me reading about them in your previous posts! :)
I especially like your breakfast nook, with those wide windows and the garden outside. Such a wonderful way to start each day, isn't it?
I'm only sorry you cut your hand. :(
Sometimes we miss things that can make our lives easy, such as handles to pick up the oven... or in my case, those little plastic corners that must be taken out, to open the lids of the icecream cases... Iup!
    :)

    1. Dearest Paula,
Oh, indeed—we all miss at times the little things for avoiding difficult tasks. But that cut did heal well.
Believe it or not, all we both did was driving around in the afternoon for finding the perfect lot (location) to build our new home on. The sun had to be in the East—right there where we planned our breakfast nook with bay window for a better view of the garden and the birds.
We were fortunate for finding this and also with a creek, so water was available. Even though with that you also have to accept the natural disasters that come with the creek overflowing and throwing our bridges out and so on.
As for wildlife it is a perfect location!
It makes one instantly happy when sipping the morning coffee at breakfast with sunshine coming into our hearts and home!
Big hugs to you and Nuno,
      Pieter & Mariette

    2. Like I saw once on a real-estate american TV show: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
If you find the right location, it's half way to a beautiful and peaceful living.
For our next (and God willing, for ever house) we are looking for a place we like to live, were there isn't much noise and easy to take care of.
We talk a lot about our future home (and ask God to give us the conditions to afford it one day!) and because of Nuno's dialysis and even after his transplant is one day done, we have to be close by car to the hospital where he will be doing his consultations in the future.
We presently live in an apartment near cafes, a busy road and a city park, so there's not much peace and quiet, especially in the Summer...
Biiiiiiiiigggg hugs from Nuno and I, too!
      :)

    3. Dearest Paula and Nuno,
May God grant you both the home that you don't cease to pray fory!
Yes, living in a quiet neighborhood is so important—especially for Nuno with all his medical issues. Rest is so much needed.
Big hugs to you both from both of us!

  6. Miele machines have always been the best. They are also the most expensive but well worth the investment.

    1. Dearest Christina,
Yes, they are as they last forever! Mom had a Miele washing machine for 40 years so the initial high price is very cheap over that many years.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
