Here I would love to share with you our travels and adventures as international mushroom consultants. Arts & Crafts Shows in Mall and Library

Once more an attempt to participate in a local Arts & Crafts Show.
On October 19, 1985 at the Local Mall
Due to very poor publicity, none of us vendors sold anything...
Well, I did sell for $ 12.60
December 7, now at the local library but once again they proved their very poor publicity.
Closeup with a Spanish born gentleman that also tried to sell...
Me, showing a hand crocheted bridal lace handkerchief, done by me...
After our visit to the Hungarian mushroom conference, I felt so badly for those poor people under the Communist regime, so I started importing their things in order to HELP some.
Those hand embroidered boxes and hearts are from Hungary.
Heart shaped boxes with hand embroidery from Hungary, and some crocheted doilies done by me.
Also I'd added some of the Delft white items like candleholders and vases.
Sold for US $ 62.14 but at least I tried to help some people in Hungary...

  2. Hello Mariette, Publicity is the most important element of short-term sales venues. A while ago, the weekend newspaper used to have listings for craft fairs, rummage sales, and so forth. Now these things sometimes are on the internet, but they are not centralized and there is no one simple place to check for a number of activities. Antique malls and flea markets are the same way--the ones that do not invest time and a little money for promotion have few customers and do poorly.

    1. Dearest Jim,
You are absolutely right about that and it is always a pity for participants that put so much effort and time into it.
Not all are good at organizing...
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  3. You are so sweet to help people from Hungary. It’s too bad the event was not promoted well. But your creations are so beautiful and people who bought them are lucky to have them :-)

    Happy Sunday, Mariette xo

    1. Dearest Tamago,
At least I tried to do just a little but one person alone cannot make much difference and without any promotion for sales it is almost zero.
      Thank you!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  9. Oh what a shame Mariette, good publicity is essential in situations like this. Your crocheting skills are amazing, I don't have the patience for it, much to my mother's dismay, she loved all craft work.

Thank you and indeed it was a shame that there was such poor publicity.
From first grade on, we were very lucky to be taught crocheting and knitting.
It is so good for developing fine motor skills.
      Hugs,

  10. Mariette! The craftsmanship and the art you gave towards your work is something that is very impressive and makes me so proud! Love the designs, my favorite are the windmills which reminds me of my trip to your Netherlands :)
