Working with my Kodak Negative and Slide Scanner

There is now a very handy negative scanner on the market and it also does slides!
Another handy tool for archiving family memories!
Yep, pushing the negatives just through... they're embedded inside a hinged and fitted holder, according to their size.
Found my Kodak Slide N SCAN Film and Slide Scanner on Amazon just click through via link.
WHY does Kodak not provide the necessary SanDisk?
Locally it was not available... so it resulted in waiting till this one got delivered.
The users manual reveals that it ought to be a SD or SDHC SanDisk and ONLY 32 GB
Only having negatives for scanning, I used one of the 3 Film Adapters
SanDisk inserted and all cables (USB and HDMI) plugged in
Connected to my MAC
Ready to go by pressing the OK / bar on top in front
Film Type for additional selection of size
Selecting the 135; 110 or 126 Film size
Or the 50 mm Slide...
You also get to select Color Negative or B&W Negative
If you touch Gallery, it shows the total slides/negatives being scanned
Easy uploading onto my MAC and another Mega Task got done!
Found some treasures, will show them later... 😉

  1. Yes, I have no idea what beach I went to in Holland. We went there after going to see the Tulips in April when we lived in Germany a couple years ago. It was about a hour south of the Tulips. I do remember their being old war war II bunkers build into the hill slopes, but nothing else of the town. Most of the people were clothed except for the three older gentleman I wrote about. It wasn't really a big of a deal as they were behind us and the kids were distracted by jumping the waves and digging in the sand. Yes, Europe is beautiful or charming, but for the reasons you mentioned I probably would never live their full time. The hassle can get to me much. I am a very much pampered american. I like my car garage. I like not having to climb a couple flight of stairs to get to my home. I like that I don't have to take all my bottles back to the store, and currently under Corona I like that my kids don't need to be tested every two days. If we lived in Germany, they would have to get tested every two days and we couldn't go a lot of places without getting tested. Oh, I also like that it doesn't take three hours to wash my laundry. It may be cleaner, but I will take faster over cleaner; especially, with all the wash I have to do each week.

    1. Dearest Kelleyn,
Oh, we certainly are very pampered here in Georgia/USA, space-wise. Those medieval towns in Italy where we could not even enter with our car and the same where you were in Portugal. That looks charming but is not practical!
Both of us are not beach going people, for kids it is different of course.
As for washing, I LOVE my German built Miele washer and dryer and would not want to give that up. You can do fast cycles but as for the cotton bed linens and towels, I do value the longer cycle on higher temperatures! It takes t x t = temperature x time for killing harmful organisms.
Often I use the timer, another positive option for setting even up to 9 and a half hour ahead.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  2. What a clever machine. I wonder if they have similar for those 8mm video films.

    God bless.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Yes, Kodak does have one for 8mm films: KODAK REELZ 8mm & Super 8 Films Digitizer Converter with Big 5” Screen, Scanner Converts Film Frame by Frame to Digital MP4 Files for Viewing, Sharing & Saving on SD Card for 3” 4” 5” 7” 9” Reels
Or are you talking about Hi8 VCR? That also can be done by using a Multi-System as I've done for ours, see top link below this post.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    2. Thanx Mariette. I meant the 8mm silent video films. I'll look into your suggestions. I have a machine to convert old magnetic cassette tapes. VHS tapes.

      God bless.

    3. Victor, that must be the first I mention; KODAK REELZ 8mm & Super 8 Films Digitizer Converter. We have had ours professionally converted as there was no such thing to do it yourself when we had it done.

  4. Hello Mariette, This scanner looks like a perfect tool. I have seen similar attachments for regular paper scanners, but they appear complicated. I have a Canon regular paper scanner that I was happy with until I needed a professional scan and went to a photographic studio. The scan from their $1000+ Canon scanner was amazing compared to my little one (way more detailed at 300dpi, and the resulting file was smaller, too), but I cannot justify that expensive machine. I am looking forward to see what gems you had hidden in those slides and negatives!

    1. Dearest Jim,
It is a very handy tool and it got the final job done.
We go for all other scanning/printing jobs to Office Max as often the software has interfered with my MAC. Don't want to deal with that anymore and the ink cartridges are quite expensive too.
Sunday you will get to see some of the negatives that we didn't even recall having...
Our life has been rather hectic and there was never time for sitting still and look at things.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  5. So much wonderful information!! I used to have a slide scanner - years ago. I must have 500-600+ slides that need cataloguing. Must get busy. Happy weekend to you and Pieter.

    1. Dearest Helen,
This will do the job quickly and the cataloguing you can do on 'rainy days'... That's what I do!
So glad for having those out of the way, kept a huge envelope with all those negatives for 'one day...'. You know that saying. Till I just sat down and DID them in no time. Fun job.
      Hugs,
      Mariette
